    FORWARD

My daughter wrote the poem Open Your Eyes And See Creativity when she was eleven. Reading her poem reminded me of the joy and emotional release I experienced writing poetry in college. Distracted by life’s demands, I had forgotten how nurturing the creative process can be. I started writing again, and thank my daughter for the creative spark. This book of poetry is dedicated to Chelsey.

OPEN YOUR EYES AND SEE CREATIVITY

A scribble of crayon done by small hands

set out for the world to see.

    Admired by family and friends,

    this is creativity.

    A thick trail of marker

    drawn on the windowsill.

Although the parents come to glare,

    this is creativity still.
