About this ebook
Chris Parkhurst
“The story has good fight sequences and is heavily influenced by manga and anime, as the author states in the preface. There is a plethora of witches, demons, and other supernatural creatures, which adds a good fantastic element to the plot. This would be a good book for lovers of anime, manga, horror, and action/adventure stories.” - The US Review of Books

Message from the Author
T hank you for picking up my book and giving it a chance. I truly appreciate it. I’m writing this message to give you a little information about myself. Normally, I’m not much of a talker and don’t really talk about myself. I’m in my midtwenties. I live in the south suburbs of Chicago. I have three brothers and two sisters; I’m the youngest. Getting tattoos and watching anime are my passion. They coexist together. I love anime; the story and characters most of the time get to me. The music I listen to extends to a wide variety. On a daily basis, I dream about living by the beach and wanting a daughter to take care of and also to make my life better. This book is the first dream I want realized. I’m an inexperienced writer, this being the first thing I truly cared about writing. This book isn’t perfect. I truly tried my hardest and did the best that I could on this book. It basically became my obsession. My imagination filled my mind, so I decided to write it down. I started writing this book to create my own female characters. Most of my time is spent watching anime or reading manga. Each female character I watch or read about—I quickly become attached to them. It’s because of who they are; their looks, personality, strength, and all-around adorableness they possess. Most of my tattoos consist of female anime characters. I wanted love to be a deep influence in this book because I believe it’s powerful and affects everything that happens in life. Love is what drives these ladies in this book. They fight for love and the love of their family and friends, wanting nothing more than to protect or avenge them. While reading this story, I hope you can visualize what I am writing, and by the time you finish it, you can say that you were entertained. Hopefully, you will fall in love with the characters like I did. Remember, love or hate, keep a smile on your face.
My #1 Anime and Manga - Blood+ - Saya and Diva – My two favorite female characters and the reason for why I wanted to do a story about twin sisters. These two were the first girls tattooed on me. I got them on my stomach, so I can see them every day. They make me happy.
Thank you
Part 1
Prologue
I ’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life, but this is the worst. My name is Lilith Azazel, wife to Daniel Azazel, head of the Azazel family. We just recently got married, but we’ve known each other for a long time. He always tells me that he wants to get out of the underworld and live on top. Coming into money was easy for him. When a condominium went up for sale, he bought it. We are the only ones that live there. Family and friends come by every now and then, but usually, it’s just us. We talk about wanting children. We kept trying and trying but not hing.
Then one day, I ran into this guy. I got knocked over and cut my hand. When I looked up, I saw him standing over me. His chestnut hair was slicked back, and his eyes were cyan blue. His skin was much tanner than mine. The scent of my blood rose through the air. As soon as he caught the scent, he tried to kill me. But when we locked eyes, he suddenly stopped. We fell in love that day. We’ve been sneaking behind my husband’s back for a couple of months now. One day, I found out I was pregnant. I don’t know by whom though, but I knew I couldn’t see him anymore. I love him, but I love Daniel even more. It’s time to end my wicked ways.
Hey, it’s Lilith. We need to talk. Can you meet me later tonight?
Yes, of course. Is there something wrong?
I don’t want to say over the phone.
Where do you want to meet up?
Do you remember the place where we first met?
Yes, I remember the place.
Okay, meet me there in a half hour. I just have to get past my husband first, but I’ll be there.
See you later,
the man’s voice says politely.
She quietly hangs up the phone and walks downstairs. Daniel is sitting at the table, reading a book. He glances up and sees her putting on her coat. Lilith.
She turns around to look at him.
Yes, Daniel,
she says cautiously.
Where are you going so late?
He stands up and walks to her.
I’m just going out for a while to see a friend, but don’t worry, honey, I won’t be long.
Please be safe. I don’t want anything bad to happen to you.
Daniel grabs her hand.
I’ll be fine. Who or what will harm me?
she asks with a smile.
I know you’ll be safe. It’s just with you being so high up in the underworld, I don’t trust that there’s an angel out there that wouldn’t try to seek you out and take you away from me.
Honey, an angel isn’t going to attack me. I’ll be back in bed right next to you before you know it. Now don’t stay up too late. Try to get some rest for your meeting in the morning.
She kisses him on the forehead and walks out of the room. Good night.
Lilith gets into the elevator and descends to the lobby. She gets out and walks outside and sees Mr. Jones standing by the car with the door open. Thank you, Mr. Jones.
Where would you like to go, Mrs. Azazel?
Mr. Jones asks.
Take me to the bar on Main Street.
Yes, Mrs. Azazel.
Mr. Jones pulls away from the building and heads toward the bar. What are your plans for tonight, Mrs. Azazel?
I’m just going to meet a friend for a drink.
Lilith looks out the window. I’m sorry, Mr. Jones, I need some time to think.
No problem, Mrs. Azazel.
Mr. Jones rolls up the window that separates him and Lilith.
She looks out the window to watch the buildings pass. Her mind is still, not able to think about what is to come. They finally arrive at the bar. Mr. Jones pulls up next to the curb. He gets out and walks onto the sidewalk and goes to the back of the car. He opens the door, and Lilith steps out.
Thank you. I won’t be long, Mr. Jones.
Lilith walks inside the bar and sits down at a table.
Hello, Lilith.
She raises her head and sees him standing behind the chair. A smile barely manages to show.
Hello and thanks for meeting me.
It’s no problem at all.
A few minutes of silence pass as they gaze at one another.
I have something important to tell you.
Tears begin to fill her eyes as she looks at him.
What is it? Why are you crying?
I’m sorry, but we can’t see each other anymore.
Why is that?
he asks sternly.
Lilith looks down at the table. It’s because I’m pregnant,
she mumbles quietly.
I’m sorry, I didn’t hear you.
He leans his head in a little closer.
A tear falls down her cheek as she’s about to speak. I’m pregnant. I’m so sorry, but you’re not the father. I can’t see you anymore now that this has happened. Listen, I realized that I can’t keep sneaking around behind my husband. I would never call you a mistake, but I should have never done this. If my husband ever found out that I have been cheating on him, I will be nothing in the devil world, especially when I’m fooling around with an angel. Everybody will shun me.
Lilith, I knew that it would be trouble if we got caught, but there was something about you that I couldn’t resist. We took that risk, and for the longest time, it seemed like we could get away with it. I understand though. You’re pregnant. We probably should stop seeing each other.
Thank you for understanding.
I want you to know that I will never forget you.
I will never forget you either. But this is good-bye.
Good-bye, my love.
She keeps her eyes toward the ground as she stands up and walks out of the bar. Mr. Jones is standing there with the car door open. He notices the tears on her cheek. Is there a problem, ma’am?
She doesn’t look at him either and gets into the limo. No, just take me home.
Okay, Mrs. Azazel.
Mr. Jones closes the door.
August 13, 1996
Lilith walks down the stairs and into the dining room. Daniel’s bags are on the floor next to the door. Are you all set to go on your trip, dear? ’Cause the limo is here!
she shouts as she leans on the table.
I’ll be down in a minute! I’m just looking for my watch!
Daniel shouts from upstairs.
It’s right here on the table.
She picks up the watch and holds it out.
Daniel walks down the stairs and grabs the watch from her. Thank you.
He grabs Lilith’s hand and pulls her close. He proceeds to put his arms around her waist and holds her tightly. Honey, I feel bad for leaving you here, especially when you might go into labor when I’m gone,
he says as he rubs her back.
Don’t worry. I won’t be going into labor while you are gone.
I could just skip this trip.
Yeah, but you already promised your sister you will go and see her.
It would be better if you came with me.
You know I’m not one for flying. Your sister doesn’t like me, which is why she only invited you. Now have a safe flight, and I’ll see you in a couple of days.
All right, honey, I’ll see you soon.
He gives her a long kiss before releasing her and then walks out of the condo.
August 15, 1996
Mrs. Azazel.
Lilith opens her eyes up to the nurse standing next to her.
Yes, Nurse?
How are you feeling?
I’m feeling pretty good right now, just a little tired.
Is your husband going to be joining you?
No. Unfortunately, he is out of town for business. We figured I wouldn’t go into labor while he was gone, but obviously, that wasn’t true.
I’m surprised he would leave you when you’re pregnant with twins.
Oh, I was fine. I had plenty of people around me to help out. He really needed to go on this trip, so it was no trouble at all.
Will anyone be by your side?
Nope. I’m going to do this by myself, but it’s all right. I’m used to it.
Actually, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him here with you.
It’s because my appointments were always scheduled during his work hours. So he never really got the chance to come with me. Trust me though. He never left my side and would be there to help me at any given moment.
Well, if you need anything, I’ll be right down the hall.
Okay, thank you, Nurse.
The nurse walks out of the room. Lilith sits there and looks at her baby bump. She gently begins to rub it. I never told him that I was having twins. That practically became a chore. After every appointment, I would tell him I was healthy and that the baby was healthy, and that was it. The only thing he ever asked me is what we were having. I could never figure out why I was afraid to tell him I was having twins. Am I afraid that this child might not be his? That possibly one of them could inherit angelic blood?
Lilith is sitting in the bed and starting to feel the pain. The nurse sees it on her face. She runs into the hall and sees the doctor talking to another nurse. Doctor, you need to come in here right away. It’s Mrs. Azazel. She’s going into labor,
the nurse says.
Okay, I’ll be right there.
The doctor walks into the room. All right, Lilith, it looks like you’re ready to give birth. Just give me a sec to get prepared.
He notices that she isn’t displaying much pain on her face. You seem really calm about this, Lilith,
the doctor says.
Well, it’s because pain is not really a problem for me. I suffered far worse than this.
Well then, let’s get this underway, shall we? It looks as though the first baby is coming. Just keep pushing, Lilith. You’re almost there, and there you go. It’s a healthy baby girl.
The little baby doesn’t cry as she stares at the ceiling. The nurse takes the baby and gets her cleaned up. What are you going to name her?
the doctor asks.
Her name is Alita.
That’s nice. Let’s get the next one out of you. We are almost there. Just give me one more push. You have yourself another girl. What are you going to name her?
the doctor says.
Her name’s Kira.
That’s another pretty name. They look identical and very similar to their mother.
Once again, there is no sound coming from the baby. Lilith locks eyes with Kira; for a second, her irises changed into cyan and then back into hazel. She gets temporarily lost in the memory of him. Those same eyes he had that would constantly lock on her. What was that?
she says out loud, not realizing she was being stared at.
Is there something wrong?
the doctor asks nervously.
Nothing, Doctor. I thought I saw something.
She closes her eyes and shakes her head to regain focus.
Would you like to hold them before you get some rest?
the nurse asks.
Yes, please.
Okay, here you go. They look just like you.
The nurse gives her the two newborns.
Thank you, Nurse.
The two girls are holding hands with each other. She gradually looks over both girls, examining the little amount of black hair. They both have a hint of crimson in it. They have soft porcelain skin like hers. Both have beautiful, piercing hazel eyes that can see right through you. She begins to sense something strange with Alita. The nurse looks up at Lilith and notices that she looks stunned. What is it, Lilith?
the nurse asks.
It’s nothing. Their beauty shocked me is all.
So this is my answer. There is something very different about you, Alita. The blood inside you is not the blood of a devil. You inherited his angelic blood. I made a mistake that you have to pay for. I’m
