    THE UPBRINGING OF MATT

T hank you for being here, said Zachariah the teacher speaking to an audience of young students at the great hall of wisdom. The year is 4014, of early spring in San Francisco. It was many years ago, said the teacher. That there were two brave men and a dog, for they were on a quest in search of a lost ancient city. The year was 3019. Their names were Matt and Shane, and Matt’s dog was called by his name Crowbar. Matt was the younger. Many years before this however, there was a great war that our ancestors had fought in the year of 2500. The enemy called the Krill shattered the land into a million pieces. It took a long time before the land was put back the way it is to day my dear students. No one knows what happen to them, for the enemy has not been seen since. And now let me talk about Matt. He also did not dare cross over the great river, for he was scared of what he had seen. Then Matt said to his father,"

When I become a man of age, I too will go and see for myself.

Father stood there quiet for a moment and then said with a strong voice,

If you do my son, you will be amazed at what you will see. Try not to be afraid, for the river can be like a stampede of wild horses, and I would not recommend crossing it. Now we will talk about this later my son, for we have harvest to attend before winter sets in.

    Yes father.

And off we went to our field.

Mother was waving at father and me, while we were approaching her, waiting patiently for us. And then we embraced. Later on mother handed out cookies she had baked, but not
