If you read most of the material in this book, you will probably get a pretty good idea how my brain operates.
While these writings will not give you a chronological view of my life, they werent meant to do so. I will leave that for a biography or eulogy.
A biography or eulogy this isnt. Those will have to wait until another day and another writer.

Author

William P. Jacobs III

William Plumer Jacobs, III, is a retired business man who, with his wife Erna, lives in Clinton, S. C. Jacobs was born in Clinton and has spent most of his life there with the exception of four years in the US Army during World War II and two years in New York as General Manager of America Lawn Tennis Magazine. In 1972, in anticipation on his retirement years he took up Art, specifically Watercolor. Then, remembering his college days when he gained a major in English he began to write poetry. Although he edited a history of Laurens County, S. C. and was advisor to other such efforts, this is his first book.

    Foreword

William Plumer Jacobs, III has a genius for elevating the everyday pieces of life into poetry. The lightness, the flow, the clarity of his works sends the reader onto the next poem effortlessly.

Jacobs is a master of observation, of looking at the obvious and lifting it into the sphere of human drama.

His poetry reflects his personality, his ability to radiate wherever he is, notice something interesting, and share his talent.

His love of nature, deep faith, glowing personality, and dry humor are continually present in his writing.

P3, as he is affectionately known, agreed to put together this first volume of his work. This artist and poet from Clinton, S. C. can now be enjoyed by the world!

When you finish this book you will wish for more.

As a matter of fact when I began to think out loud, the words took on the appearance of poetry.

Therefore, I went back to school (evening classes on poetry for adults), two semesters under two very different teachers.

I had already been told that I had a knack for poetic utterances, and my study of English in college came rushing out in force, saying, Write it down William, say it the way you feel it.

While these writings will not give you a chronological view of my life, they weren’t meant to do so. I will leave that for a biography or eulogy.

A biography or eulogy this isn’t. Those will have to wait until another day and another writer.

    But really, this is me.

    Thanks

I have a hard time keeping myself on a straight line toward the end of a project, even after I set my mind to the task. I’m not certain what that is called but had it not been for friends and family who urged me on and lent helping hands, I might never have gotten this book published.

So, I owe them my grateful thanks.

First is my wife, Erna, for putting up with my strange ways, and furnishing a love which kept me at it in spite of myself. Carrie Henderson, who wrote the foreword, has been a helpful fan since the
