About this ebook

From the congestion of Los Angeles to the sands of San Diego; from the heights of New York to the desert sun of Las Vegas; from the cafes of Paris to the streets of Amsterdampoetry drumming to the maddening beat of a primitive, personal war-dance. Order and chaos; the way between young and old: straining to perfectabsorbing the world; absolving all sin. Eroticism-savagery-bloodlust: both frightening and beautiful.

    Quicksand in Shadows

     (1998-2000)

    Icarus

    I

    . . . flying, flying

I hold your fire – not bound to life

not allowed to die – just breathe

breathe as you let in light

as you let in so many ideas

flying – staring into the sun-

    with eyes wide open

reach for me – like a bird

    into the sky – fly

    glide above high tide

    above the ground

    so frantic to stay-

    float peacefully

    let all this light in

    as you dare to fly

    and stare into the sun

with eyes open – reach for me

I am open – just reach.

    II

    . . . flying, flying

    high up – so vast

    moving as fast as light

above the tide – I am reaching

for her – water surrounds me

as I drink from the blue-

    her arms wide open

    reaching – covering me

as I fly through the clouds

    holding my fire-

    I’m not bound to life

    I’m not allowed to die-

    keeping back tears

    as she reaches for me

    floating like a bird

    reaching for a pearl

    never bound to life

    never allowed to die…

    flying into the sun,

    falling to the ground.

    Wishing His Escape

    Knowledge over wealth

    he gives up
