Previously a classroom teacher, Roxanne worked as a school counselor for 23 years, instilling innovative programs, character education, and life training skills, as well as parent education and community involvement. She served as an adjunct professor at St. Thomas University in Miami, and has presented workshops and seminars both locally and nationally. Roxanne has made a significant contribution to the counseling profession having served as president of the Florida School Counselor Association and vice-president of the American School Counselor Association. She has been honored as Counselor of the Year at the local, state, and national levels.Retired from the local school system, Roxanne spends her time reading, writing, and painting. The expressive journey she now follows has opened up new worlds and broader insights. At times, her art and poetry merge as one, forming a connective link. Poetry is her vehicle of choice in exploring the linkage between past and present.I Am The Dancing Girl is a collection of rhyme, free verse, and narrative poetry reaching from Roxanne’s adolescence into her adulthood. She accepts the poetry as a part of her that wants saying, coming from her core. Her whimsical writings can be like a facade, covering what’s lying beneath the surface that is not ready to emerge, or they can be just that – quirky, fanciful fun.Roxanne Zusmer is the author of five other books: Mr. Germain Goes To Antarctica, Top 10 Topics for School Counselors, Creative Coloring Books 1 and 2, and Looking for the Rainbow’s End.view less
