About this ebook

Concepts of Islam is firstly an honest and sincere effort to show the beauty and grandeur of what has been given to mankind in both the universal message that Muhammad received in the form of divine revelation-The Holy Quran, and the way that the prophet Muhammad lived his personal lifehis Sunni. It is to be noted that in no way could one manuscript capture all of the beauty and splendor of the Glorious Quran, or the repertory life of the prophet Muhammad.

Naeem Abdullah

Naeem Abdullah, is an African American raised from childhood as a Christian. His personal quest to find God began after hearing numerous speeches delivered by the late Malcolm X, speeches that he often attended in Harlem, N.Y. in the late 50’s. Before that he had taken matters of religion for granted. Going to Church each Sunday with his parents in the small N.J. town of New Brunswick, were part of his weekly activity, never questioning anything at all about his Christian faith. Malcolm never advocated violence but stated facts, many of these facts were visible in his daily life. After listening to numerous speeches Naeem put much of what he heard in the back of his mind, with the intent of one day verifying the many facts that he. heard concerning blacks, and their connection with the religion of Islam. Years later after moving to Michigan, from N.J, After reading scores of books his interest was heightened. Naeem says that he now could easily see the connection between African Americans and Islam. Naeem says a short time he joined the Nation of Islam, joining under its founder the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. After the passing of its founder in 1975, the movement split. One group followed minister Louis Farrakhan and remained the “Nation of Islam” while the group that remained with the Honorable Elijah Muhammad’s son Warith Deen Muhammad, was brought slowly into to the Sunni path of the prophet Muhammad. Naeem chose the Sunni path. Naeem says: “I have not always found it easy to practice Islam in America, mainly because of the misguided biases that many Americans have against Islam. Today I am assured that the struggle has indeed been worth the outcome. I am at home in my soul now I’m at complete peace with my God, my self and all of humanity. I truly believe that--after difficulty comes ease.”

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

WITH THIS AS WITH ALL endeavors, I begin by thanking the Almighty, Who has led me to venture into this effort. Again, I thank God for the Life of the late Leader Imam Warith Deen Muhammad, whose deep, inspired, seminal spiritual insight turned his community around to the Sunni path of the Prophet Muhammad (s), imparting brilliant words of wisdom that returned his community to decency, righteousness and human excellence. Sitting, taking numerous notes, analyzing and putting his words in perspective changed my perception of God, Humanity, Creation and Scripture. Those who followed this inspired man was given the keys to unlocking the hidden wisdom in the scriptures. It seems that many in the world missed him, I feel that it is now the duty of his students to give his message to the world. My prayer is that God will forgive this humble servant his faults and grant him paradise. The teaching that I received from him has brought my once troubled life to new heights of spiritual awareness, and infused my life with more understanding and happiness.

To my wife Debra, my undying gratitude for her patience, infinite forbearance and love in giving me the time and space needed in order to complete this task.

    DEDICATION

    THIS WORK IS DEDICATED TO my Loving Family. Those members who are still here, and those who have passed on. Many never coming in contact with Islam, but all aided me in my quest to find faith. To my daughters;

Carol, Joanne, Roseanne, Kamilah, Salimah, Fatimah, Taheerah, Felicia and La Briana. Each one of them being a blessing from the Creator, each one with their unique personality taught me the meaning of love and by interacting with them caused me to grow in multi-dimensions as a human being. They all have my undying love, and I thank God for each of them.

And to all of those who are searching for truth in a world of misconceptions, illusions, and falsehoods. Those who are looking for truth as it exists, who are struggling to comprehend the true reality, and to know the functions and interactions of creation and humanity. Above all, I am grateful to the Almighty for this opportunity to complete and submit this manuscript.

    PREFACE

THERE IS NO HUMAN IN the history of man whose life has been more scrutinized than the life of the prophet Muhammad. There is no aspect of his life that has not been analyzed in the fullest of detail. One could spend a life time examining the life of Muhammad, and it would not be enough. The life of Muhammad is a riveting experience for any and all who read it.

The world has advanced since the days of Muhammad, and brought with it great knowledge in scientific achievements, no one could have anticipated this. Muhammad’s life still exist on the pages of history to show all the power of grandeur of one man’s faith in his God.

There is a growing need today to have Muhammad, the Holy Quran and Islam presented properly to the world.

The Quran expressly says that Muhammad was a man, not an angel and not a god.

The hostility of the western nations, the gross misrepresentation of his message and his life, alone with the profane misunderstanding in many instances by Muslims of their own religion, and what Islam is really all about, has led to false concepts of Islam.

Muhammad’s message follows in the tradition of the former prophets who were divinely inspired to propagate and strive to establish the unity of God among man, the brotherhood of man and universal peace for all.

The proof of his prophet-hood lies in the fact that a universal Book was revealed to him (Holy Quran) a book truly unique to the world. And the fact that he accomplished something so monumental and breath taking, that it still staggers the mind of all who read about his life. Islam traveled from the distant corners of Arabia to the most distant countries of the world. The Muslims were so eager to spread the truth around the world that in one hundred years after the death of Muhammad, Islam had traveled the then known world. It had spread from the far reaches of the east in China to the farthest of the west to Spain. Individuals and nations that were once dead were revived and in the words of the Quran the dead were made to speak. The dead being addressed here are the mental and spiritual dead humanity as well as the stagnant nations of the earth. There is no doubt the Quran brought about a spiritual quickening for the whole of humanity.

The total transformation brought about by the Quran and the way that it was brilliantly demonstrated in the life of prophet Muhammad proved to the world in a preeminent way how faith is to be shown and how life is to be lived on earth.

Today man seems mesmerized by the emerging new world, the old world is passing away, truth is again being advance in the world, although it always were being advanced, only now it is more visible and clear for all to see. The words of scripture are now made plan to all: every eye shall see.

Concepts of Islam is firstly a honest and sincere effort to show the beauty and grandeur of what has been given to mankind in both the universal message that Muhammad received in the form of divine revelation-The Holy Quran, and the way that the prophet Muhammad lived his personal life—his Sunni. It is to be noted that in no way could one manuscript capture all of the beauty and splendor of the Glorious Quran, or the repertory life of the prophet Muhammad. Secondly it is a effort to build and extend upon my previous work "Islam: A Favor To Humanity." Again my prayer is that God will accept this unpretentious effort.

Men will wrangle for religion; write for it; fight for it; die for it; anything but—live for it

    CHAPTER 1

    SATAN’S ARGUMENT WITH GOD

    HOW IT ALL BEGAN!

"The devil indeed is an open enemy to man." (Q:12:5)

IT ALL BEGAN BILLIONS OF years ago in the heavens, a Jinn (Iblis) became the leader of the angels in the heavenly order. God’s order was for the angels to submit their controlling powers over the forces of nature to man (Adam), and make these forces submissive to Adam in their service to mankind. Adam was created above the angels because of his great gift of knowledge of things. The angels being the controlling forces of nature, in time would have to yield this control to man because of man’s ability to acquire knowledge. Man would in time harness the forces of nature and bring them under his control. (Q:2:34). "And when We said to the angels, be submissive to Adam, they submitted, but Iblis did not. He refused and was proud, and he was one of the disbelievers." Iblis and Satan are one and the same, he is called Iblis when his evil is limited to himself and Satan when his evil affects others. Iblis argument before God was that he was better than man and he should be given dominion over the earth as opposed to man being given this high honor. He reminds God that God had created man from dust, and him from an intense fire (Q:15:27), and that he should not be commanded to serve one from such a lowly origin (Q:3:59). Therefore he would not serve man. This action by Satan put him in direct opposition to the plan of God, Satan was now openly challenging God’s power and absolute authority, bringing about a seismic clash in the heavens. God orders Satan from the heavens and tells him that this was no place for him to show off his false pride (Q:7:13). Satan then asks God to give him a delay (respite) so he will have time to prove to God that he was better to dominate than man.

This was a direct challenge put to God by Satan. Satan’s argument also includes the promise that he would lead man away from the path that leads to God. Satan said to God: As thou has adjudged me to be erring, I will lie in wait for them in thy straight path. Then I shall certainly come upon them from before them and from behind them, and from their right and from their left; and thou will not find most of them thankful (Q:7:16-17).

Satan had failed in his argument before God to be given ruler-ship over man in the earth, God had chosen man instead. Satan’s life had now become evil and he schemes to bring man down. He now becomes an enemy to man. God warns man that Satan is his open enemy (Q:12:5). God accepts the challenge put forth by Satan and grants Satan a delay (respite), by telling him that he is one of the respited ones (Q:7:15), then God tells Satan that he and all who follow him will be of those who fill Hell (Q:7:18-19).

Satan is now exiled into the earth were he becomes a temporary god.

The race now begins for Satan to disprove the value of man before God.

In his infinite knowledge and mercy, God gives Satan the tools that he needs for the fight.

The first body of man (Adam) was created and fashioned by God, then the soul of Adam was assigned to that body (Q:7:11). Adam’s mate was cloned with female features and God assigned that soul to that female body. The two remained in heaven as long as they kept God’s commandments.

But the devil made an evil suggestion to them that he might make manifest to them that which had been hidden from them of their shame, and Satan said: "Your Lord has forbidden you this tree, lest you become angels or become immortal." And he swore to them both: I am a sincere adviser to you. And he caused them to fall by deceit. So when they had tasted of the tree, their shame became manifest to them, and they both began to cover their shame with the leaves of the garden. And their Lord called to them: did I not forbid you that tree, and say to you that the devil is surely your enemy (Q:7:20-22).

The Bible states that the tree was the tree of knowledge of good and evil the Quran calls it the "tree of immortality" (Q:20:120), therefore it was the opposite of what Satan had suggested. This tree represents anything that God has forbidden to man. It also represented the spiritual death of man once he disobeys God. Adam stands for all men, it is evil which man must be against and not approach. Not to approach evil is a pure description of human nature, each person condemns evil when it is done by others. Man is to harness the forces of nature for his physical comfort and happiness, so long as he does not forget his soul. Man is not to pamper the body at the expense of the soul, to enlighten the soul is innate in human nature-man now stands in wait for divine revelation.

Their human bodies did not become visible to them until their human flaw was revealed, this human flaw exists in every human creature.

Even though man would be able to conquer the forces of nature he himself was a part of nature and could not conquer his own evil desires, without revelation from God. His advancement would be predicated upon two things: i.e. His ability to conquer nature and his ability to conquer his own evil desires.

The test for mankind on Earth is to see if man will accept the absolute authority of God (pray to God alone and recognize him only as sovereign owner of both Heaven and Earth). Each time a human baby is born, a Jinn is produced for him as a companion, and that Jinn lives in the same body as the human person from birth to death, and tries to convince the human that God alone is not enough. The human being has the power to convert the Jinn to faith in God. The prophet Muhammad said that he converted his Jinn to faith in the one God.

REDEMPTION… AN EXTRA MERCY GIVEN TO MAN!

"And we enjoined on man the doing of good to his parents. His mother bears him with trouble and she brings him forth in pain. And the bearing of him and the weaning of him is thirty months. Till, when he attains his maturity and reaches forty years" (Q:46:15).

God is the most merciful of those who show mercy (Q:7:151).

God, truly the merciful Creator, gave each human time to look around, analyze, and reflect upon all points of view before making their most important decision, i.e. to uphold God’s absolute authority, or Satan’s point of view.

Any one who dies before the age of forty is chosen by God for redemption. These circumstances are known only to God. Anyone who dies before the age of forty goes to heaven (Q:46:15). God’s overwhelming mercy is evident in the fact that even those who believe in God find it hard to believe such divine compassion.

God is telling man that his spiritual maturity is not fully reached until he reaches the age of forty. This is also evident in the fact that the Prophet Muhammad did not began receiving revelation for the regeneration of mankind until he attained the full age of forty.

To aid man, God grants a mercy to man. Each person is born with the instinctive knowledge that God alone is our Lord and Master and no one else. For God says: "And when thy Lord brought forth from the children of Adam, from their loins, their descendants, and made them bear witness about themselves: God asks them "Am I not your Lord?" They replied: "yes! We bear witness," and God says: lest you shall say on the day of Resurrection we were unaware of this" God replies "Or lest you should say our fathers ascribed partners to God before us, and we were their descendants after them. Will thy destroy us for what they did." (Q:7:172-173).

The Jinn are not given this instinctive nature, but they are given a much longer life span than man, which gives them a greater ability to study God’s marvelous signs throughout the universe. We are to remember that they represent Satan’s point of view so they lean strongly toward polytheism. Man’s instinctive nature drives him to worship God alone, like plants waiting to be watered, so God sent prophets to help us choose wisely. We are told that the only unforgivable sin before God is false worship, the belief that anything or anyone has absolute power besides God. If ones carries this belief to his death, he will not be forgiven.

    THE CREATION OF THE UNIVERSE

With power and skill did we construct the Firmament: it is we who created the vastness of space. And we have spread out the(spacious) earth: how excellent we do spread it out! And of all things we have created in pairs (Q:51:47-49).

Man is to see the plan of God unfolding before his very eyes. Who can comprehend the vastness of space, it is God who created it and sustains it. The earth under the feet of man how great is God’s creation we see it spread out like a wondrous carpet before us. God reminds us how he has created all things in pairs-sex in animals and sex in plants, the subtle forces of nature, day and night, positive and negative, attraction and repulsion, and many other opposites, each fulfilling the plan of creator. All submitting to divine will. All created things have their counterpart. God alone is one with none like him. These are grand things to contemplate, they lead man to more and better understanding of his Lord.

Because the earth is tied into the workings of the universe, it is able to produce life from a single shower of rain, and in it’s various ways and sustains all life on earth. The earth itself seems to die in winter and in times of drought, but in the spring the earth is revived back to all of it’s glory. We also see this in the life of man. This is also a similitude of people, A people who may be considered useless and worthless adding no value to human life can be resurrected seemly over night and become the leaders of mankind. This happened on the peninsula of Arabia, and it will occur over and over in the life of man.

In chapter 6 verse 57, of the Holy Quran God states: God is the originator of the heavens and earth. This statement is in full agreement with modern day science. Science believe that the whole of the universe is the result of a giant explosion, they call this phenomena the big bang, and their theory is that this produced the whole of the universe about fifteen billon years ago. Science does not say it but those who believe in God, know beyond any doubt know that if this big bang occurred was the will of God expressed that began this riveting proliferation of the processes bringing in the creation of the universe from nothing as the result of an explosion of a single point. Science believe that before the big bang, there were no such thing as matter, energy or time, and that these chronicle of events occurred at the same time. This fact was just recently discovered by modern physics calculations. Theories resulting from the laws of physics involves the idea of a universe that expands and contracts. By observing the red shift in distant galaxies, science concluded that the universe is expanding. This was first referred to in the Quran over fourteen years ago. Fourteen hundred years ago the science of astronomy were primitive. The expansion of the universe is described this way in the Holy Quran: "it is we who have constructed the heavens with might, and verily it is we who will steadily expand it." (Q:51:47).

God directed himself to the creation of the heavens while it was yet a vapor, and he said to it and to the earth in one explicit command, he ordered them both "to come in submission" and they both replied "we come in submission" (Q:41:11).

Concerning the heavens God again reminds man of the creative processes involving the heavens when he says: Behold it is God who made constellations in the skies, and placed therein a lamp and a moon giving light (Q:25:61). The lamp in the sky referred to here is the sun, and next to him is the moon, which borrows it’s light from the sun. while the Constellations of the heavens includes the zodiac which mark the path of the planets in the heavens.

The word "heaven" is used throughout the Quran, which carries the meaning of space and universe. God says to man that the universe is expanding. Today science has come to this conclusion. This fact was first given to prophet Muhammad, when it was not yet known to man.

    CREATION OF THE EARTH

Surely your Lord is God, who created the heavens and the earth in six periods, and he is established on the Throne of Power (Q:6:54).

And he made in it mountains above its surface, and he blessed therein and ordained therein its foods, in four days, alike for (all) seekers" (Q:41:10).

The days here stands for periods of growth in time, not necessarily the twenty four days that man relates to. The making of the earth in two days and the making of its mountains, rivers, plants and animal in four days, making six stages in all, are all included in one continuous process. The first stage is the creation of the earth, the second stage is the cooling of its surface, the third is the making of its mountains, and the fourth is the blessing it with water, and making within it rivers, lakes and oceans. The fifth and sixth stages are spoken of here as the ordaining the foods, plant life, animal life culminating in the creation of man. This time period does not involve the heavens, for the process of the heavens are ongoing. Today science has verified this revelation.

God calls man’s attention to the rain when he says: see ye the water which ye drink? Do you bring it down from the clouds or do we? were it our will we could make it salty (and unpalatable): then why do you not give thanks (Q:56:68-70). God also gives us some insight as to how he produces the rain when he reveals: "See how God makes the clouds move gently, then joins them together, and makes them into a heap?-then thou will see rain issue forth from their midst. And he sends down from the sky masses of clouds wherein is hail. He strikes therein whom he pleases and he turns it away from whom he pleases, the vivid flash of lighting that blinds the sight" (Q:24:43).

For the scientist (Biologist), those who study the life of all living things God says: And God has created every animal from water of them there are some that creep on their bellies; some that walk on two legs; and some that walk on four. God creates what he wills, for surely God has power over all things (Q:24:45).

    THE CREATION OF MAN

He it is who created you from clay, then he decreed a term. And there is a term named with him; still you doubt (Q:6:2).

Man is soul and body, formed for deeds of high resolve-Percy Shelly.

Man was late in coming on the scene of creation, it is as if the table had to be prepared for him. God says in the Quran that he began the creation of man with "sounding clay of black mud fashioned into shape" (Q:15:26), which says to man that he was created from the Earth. Sounding clay gives man a superiority over other animals. Man has the ability to form language. Without the perfection of language man would never been able to rise above the other animals. God refers to the clay as "fakhkhar" (Q:55:14) or baked clay, showing that the earth’s surface itself has been baked in fire. The earth was undoubtedly originally a lump of fire.

So man is made from the earth. Conceived in heaven and formed in the earth. Man had no form until you are in the context of matter-the earth. Therefore, man had to be in the womb of his mother in order to have form. In the womb of the mother, mans form at first is no more than milky looking water, human form begins from this stage. Likewise for your thoughts, your intellectual curiosity, you cannot have them detached from mother Earth. It is in the Earth that mans aspirations are fulfilled. Man is told by God "get ye down from here altogether into the earth." There you find your activities that you are trying to carry on up here, there you will have a sisutation for fulfillment you aspirations.

you want to be up here? But first you have to qualify to be up here, you want to be up here and you have no form yet, you are nothing but watery fluid.

People of religion underestimate the importance and value of the material reality. Man cannot have and development or existence or even have language or any concepts, without him being firstly in the womb of his mother, the first womb is the womb of his physical mother, the second womb is the womb of created matter. It is the creation of God that causes reflection and stimulation in the human intellect, this is how we develop and earn admission into God’s paradise.

Our life and everything belongs to God, but the paradise is really the paradise of your own life in progress. Your own life in progress will eventually bring you to a state where you will have heaven on earth. This heaven that you will be in will be the heaven of your own progression.

God says that he created man for his mercy. He says: And for this did he create them(man)" (Q:11:19).

SATAN… . THE DEVIL OR THE SERPENT

Mankind was but one nation, but differed (later). Had it not been for a word that went forth before from thy Lord, their differences would have been settled between them (10:19).

This verse confirms what science now tells us, that all of mankind is one creation. By that logic mankind needed but one message, the message of the unity of God and the unity of all of creation. It was the breath of Satan who put selfishness, egotism, greed and race pride into the mind and heart of man, causing man to slip. In time God sent messengers after messengers at various times for man’s varying mentality.

For his disobedience Satan was cast down into the earth, alone with man whom he had seduced. Satan had suggested that man was not to follow the plan that God had for him. It’s easy to see why Satan is represented by the serpent in the Bible, not only does the serpent hold a fascination for man, but his cunning is unequaled by any other creature. Satan in the garden was telling man was to come into his own independent thinking, and that man would not really die if he disobeyed the laws of God, No! he told man that his eyes would come open. Satin was now living up to evil suggestive ways, taking man out of his best mental form, his best social form and his best moral form. Satan told man your eyes will come open and you will be like God and the angels—living forever you won’t die. The serpent is now telling man all these blatant lies, that’s why he is called serpent.
