MICHAEL B. MOORE

Michael B. Moore is the author of The Phoenix Chronicles series. A series of short stories, poetry and novels based on the not so often addressed topic of a deep emotional pain. Based from his own life's experiences, his writings delve into a hidden world that we all carry around, even if unnoticed. There are many who live in the shadows and very few who know. With his collection of writings, he does what he can to help bring release to those unknown, you are not alone. He is a proud father to one precious son, Gavin. Born and raised in Alabama, Moore left home at 15 years of age and headed to the streets to find a life all his own. Lost in a never ending memory of a love once held in his hands, Moore continues to write, all that we try to hide.

    PROLOGUE

Another cold and dreary day has enveloped Seattle, as it comes to a close for the unknown Jimmy Hanson. Just a regular Joe, Jimmy never imagined the life that would unfold right in front of his eyes. As he makes the short trek from his meager janitorial job to his home, stopping off at the local deli for his regular evening meal is his only habit. Living alone in a personal solitary confinement, he finds no valid reason to live a normal life anymore. A small, but quaint hotel room is all that he regards as his only escape from the mental torment that plagues him on a daily basis. He resides in the last room, on the second floor of an old dilapidated establishment that never really seemed too inviting. It was a decision he made, since the passing of his wife eight years ago. While remaining in the background, his life’s expectations have dwindled considerably. With no family to speak of and no reason to care anymore, he rides out his remaining days, alone. Jimmy decided that after the loss of his wife, he could no longer handle being around other people, no more than what was pertinent. He spends his days wasting away, fighting the urges to recollect the better days he and his wife once enjoyed. Enduring it all, keeps his mind in a constant twist.

Jimmy’s life was once a dream come true, a reality that any man could be satisfied and proud. He worked tirelessly to obtain the security, cars, stature, and of course, the woman he met and fell in love with so many years ago. In a moment of selfishness, someone took that all away. The dark and rainy evening seemed fitting when his world was flipped upside down and inside out.

    CHAPTER 1

One evening, considered typical in the Seattle rush hour, consisted of a light rain and the usual crowded highways of commuters trying to make their way home. Sally Hanson was eager to get home to the one man that captured her heart from day one. She ended her work day as normally as any other, still full of a continuous joy, that had engulfed her completely.

So young when Jimmy met Sally, in the last year of college, but no one could ever deny the happiness they created with each other. The crowded ride home never really caused any hesitation on her part, even though traffic seemed to flow at such an unreasonable pace.

Only a couple miles from her exit off of Interstate 5, she noticed the blue lights of a police car flashing behind her. They were closing in fast, but she
