Sophie's Dark Love - Kindra Woods

Hello, welcome back to a world of bullets, love, and desire. This book goes out to Melissa who is always supporting me and my father who may never read this but kept saying I needed to get out of the Paranormal World so here is my contemporary side.

    CHAPTER ONE

    Issac

Issac opened his eyes and rolled over to search for Sophie, but her sweet little body wasn’t there. Images of earlier in the day rolled around in his head. His cock hardened. Then he realized what had actually woken him up. The alarm was going off, and Issac bolted out of bed, his senses on high alert.

He snatched up his boxers, shoving them on quickly before racing out of the room. Something wasn’t right, and he didn’t know what. Sophie! he called out her name a few times, but nothing came back to him as he bounced down the stairs. He scanned the area, and his heart tightened. Sophie lay on the ground, just outside of the door. Her brown hair, slightly covering her lips, and her beautiful blue eyes were closed.

What made him even more nervous was the snake approaching her, with his fangs ready to attack again. He grabbed the closest thing to him, which happened to be a book his brother had given him two years ago. Then he opened the door and tossed it at the snake before snatching Sophie. Her breathing was heavy and uneven. It did not deter the snake for long as it approached the door, like it was on a mission to destroy everything in its path.

Just fucking great. He raced over and lay Sophie on the couch, then secured one of his hidden guns from under the coffee table. He took aim and shot the snake twice, once in the head and once a few inches down. The headshot killed the snake instantly. Security guards ran in with their guns drawn, ready to finish any job Issac didn’t handle in the first place. Get that thing out of here. Taking Sophie to a hospital.

Issac wrapped Sophie in a blanket from the back of the couch, covering her up from anyone else because her bikini barely covered anything.

One of his guys, Martin, approached with a pair of dark blue pants and a white shirt for Issac to wear. Issac quickly dressed, then grabbed Sophie and carried her to his car. His body hummed with rage and fear, all mixed into one deadly cocktail. He knew who’d sent the snake into his home. The diamondback rattlesnake was deadly, and if it bit her twice, she’d never make it to the hospital.

Issac kept checking back on her as he raced to the nearest hospital. The sooner they could get the antivenom in her, the better, and he prayed the venom hadn’t reached her heart yet.

He hit the gas even harder, pushing the limits for reasonable speeding. His mind raced about the fact that a snake had made its way into his yard. The O’Neal family had a hitman on payroll who enjoyed using the most venomous snakes in the region to kill with and escape prosecution. One time, he’d had a snake bite a man right on his cock. How it happened, no one knew for sure except the man the hitman had killed.

Issac adjusted his weight as the thought of it happening to him rolled through his mind. The pain must’ve been unbearable.

A gasp left Sophie’s lips, bringing him back to the present. The turn for the hospital road was five feet away. He yanked the wheel to the side and slammed on the breaks right in front of the hospital. He threw the gear shifter into park as someone strolled out past the sliding doors.

How can I help you tonight? A woman who looked to be about seventy with her gray bun tight up on the top of her head and wrinkles everywhere walked his way.

Snake bit my girlfriend. She passed out. And it was a diamondback rattlesnake. Issac bolted to Sophie’s side and pulled her out of the car. The woman’s eyes widened as she clicked on a phone she pulled from her pocket.

How long ago and where? she asked, while Issac carried Sophie inside. Every fiber of his being focusing on the task at hand, while staying on high alert to keep her from harm. His shoulders tense as his heart raced in his chest.

The hum of the machines buzzed around and a few beeps pulsed from rooms of other patients. The scent of disinfectant and the bright lights might have been off putting to some, but for him, it pushed away any residue of drowsiness.

About twenty minutes ago, and I think on her leg. He glanced at her body; her swimsuit was damp against his clothes, but he didn’t mind. Getting her help was far more important than being a little wet.

He still didn’t know if the snake was planted or if all this was a fluke of bad karma or horrible luck. Issac wished he’d been up when the snake had come for her, at least then he could’ve kept her away from the harm. But the deed was done, all he could do was get her the help she needed as soon as possible. Even if it meant he spend a shit load of money to achieve it.

Here. The nurse snapped as she pointed to a bed. Issac ignored the way she spoke to him and set Sophie down. Another nurse came their way. The first one started yelling all the information at the younger one. The bed started moving, and he stayed right next to Sophie as they wheeled her back to a room past a set of double doors.

Another nurse, who looked to be a student, bolted their way. Which leg? she asked while
