My name is Krystal and I love reading and writing! I doubt I could be without my e-reader as I take it everywhere with me as every moment I can spear I spend it reading. I have always thought of myself as quite inventive and I figured it was time to put my creativity and imagination to work. That's when I decided to buy a smaller laptop that I could easily carry with me and furiously write whenever possible! That's how I proactively began writing on January. I love it and I hope you enjoy reading my stories almost as much as I enjoyed writing them!

Have you ever thought about what it would be like if you had a superpower?
If so, what would it be?
CHAPTER ONE
My name is Sapphire Camille Rinaldi Moretti and I'm the eldest daughter of Dr. Sofia Moretti and Dr. Michael Rinaldi. Mom's a pediatric surgeon, while Dad is a cardiovascular one. Although they work at St. Helena Hospital, they're so incredible at what they do that they have earned privileges to work at hospitals all over the world. As amazing as that is, being great doctors isn't what makes my parents famous. They are well known for being the strongest superheroes of their generation.
Five hundred years ago, our home planet of Millena was destroyed in a galactic war that exterminated three races. A ship containing three hundred people left Millena on autopilot with Earth as it's set destination. Among those men and women were members of the Concilio, which is the group of elders that rules Millena, as well as couples representing each of our superpower groups.
In a way, our story's similar to Noah's Ark in the sense that the couples saved were meant to jumpstart the population once they got to a safe place and were able to establish themselves.
Our forefathers chose Earth as our destination as physically, we are very similar to humans. The main difference is our powers. Our ancestors chose a secluded and uninhabited part of Earth to land on. To anyone looking up at the sky they'd think a meteor crashed into the Earth as the outside of the ship was altered to look like one. When our people landed on planet Earth, they were able to secure that territory for themselves. That is how we came to have our autonomous and independent country from the rest of the surrounding nations and the world. From that point onward we became the Oligarchy of Millena, overseen by the four members of the Concilio.
Only a handful of human leaders know the truth about our existence. As a good faith gesture to our host planet, we agreed to provide assistance to other nations as needed. This is why so many of our adults have privileges as consultants in different parts of the world.
Over the years, our country has been able to prosper at a much higher pace than every other nation governed by humans. Partly because we don't have those negative traits human beings carry. I'm not saying our race is perfect, but we aren't governed by our emotions and we certainly wouldn't physically harm one another out of boredom or some other petty sentiment. What was once a deserted, inhospitable land, our people have turned it into an oasis. Located in Europe at the North Sea coastline, Millena now boasts luscious green valleys, fertile grounds to produce all of our crops as well as mountains filled with minerals where we obtain all of our precious metals from. We are proud to say that we don't need to import any products from any other country in the world.
Our capital, St Helena, sits at the coast by the North Sea. Only the Concilio along with the most prominent families reside in St Helena. The Concilio members share a four-wing castle shaped like an x. Each wing of Castle Millena is self-sufficient and independent. They all connect in the middle, which is where the Concilio meets. The castle sits on a two-hundred-acre lot with pristine landscape. There are no high walls encasing it as they aren’t needed. The castle is protected by the rocky coast to the west, a magical forest to the south, a very dangerous lake on the east and then there's the accessible side on the north, which no one can access without the necessary credentials.
Since my parents are both descendants of Concilio members, my family resides in St Helena. The stronger or more useful your powers are, the closer to the Concilio you reside and vice versa.
Unlike human nations, there is no poverty in Millena. From an economic standpoint, you could say we have three social classes: middle, upper and aristocratic. My family is part of the latter because of who we are.
CHAPTER TWO
Every citizen of Millena is a descendant of powerful sorcerers. We are all guided by many ancient traditions and rules. Each family has their own power which is passed down from generation to generation. Some powers are cooler and more useful than others and as people marry, everyone is expectant of which power their children will inherit.
The first sign of one’s powers are glimpsed on the eve of their tenth birthday. Then on the eve of our sixteenth birthday, our powers awaken and we are fully enveloped by them. Afterward, we spend the next two years honing our powers to be ready to use them for the good of our people and the world.
During the first ten years of our lives, we are all treated equally. We all attend the same schools and are taught the same regardless of whom our parents are, what our powers might be or what part of the country we live in. Then, once we glimpse, the classification begins.
Currently, we have a population of nearly one hundred thousand Millenans. Just as in our home planet, there is a bloodline-based hierarchy that is strictly followed. The Concilio is held by the heads of the Rinaldi, Moretti, Rossi and Lombardo families. Which makes me a descendent of two of the most powerful families in Millena. To make matters worse, my parents are considered royalty as they are the strongest and coolest adults of their generation with fully active and completely useful powers. Mom has healing powers and Dad has super speed and super strength.
With two out of the four Concilio members as grandparents and having the most popular superheroes as parents, can anyone imagine what kind of pressure I live under? I remember when I was little, I used to have so much fun. Mom's best friend, Dr. Erika Lombardo Rossi, used to bring her son Tayden to play with me nearly every afternoon ever since I can remember.
Tayden's a year older than me, but he never seemed to mind the age difference or that I was a girl whenever we played together. I always looked up to him and thought he was the coolest kid in the world.
When I was eight, I remember hearing both of our moms talk about how wonderful it would be when we were old enough to date and marry. Often, they would talk about how incredible the future would be when the four oligarch families finally come together through Tayden and I.
Oh Sofia, I can only imagine how great and powerful our grandkids will be. When we combine the strongest four Millenan bloodlines, we will have children with unfathomable power!
I remember Erika saying and Mother nodding along with her.
Erika, just imagine how beautiful those children will be!
Mom said, and they laughed and kept on talking about me, Tayden and our future together. That was when I realized I wasn't scared or grossed out by the thought of marrying Tayden. On the contrary, I quite liked it. Then it dawned on me, I liked Tayden as a boy and from that day forward I started dreaming about our future together as well. Me being Mrs. Sapphire Camille Rossi Lombardo Rinaldi Moretti sounded pretty awesome.

It’s customary for most of the families in the neighborhood to be invited to a child's tenth birthday. The stronger the bloodline, the likelier it is for more people to be present at the time of the glimpse. Everyone wants to get a peek at what the child's power will be like. When said child is the eldest of the descendants of the Concilio lineages, then everyone is intrigued, hopeful and expectant while they wait to witness greatness.
When Tayden glimpsed last year, it was amazing. I was one of the closest people to him when the glimpse started. At that moment, I could feel the charge in the air as Tayden was lifted nearly as high as the ceiling!
Millena tradition says that the higher we are lifted during the glimpse, the more powerful we will become. After Tayden glimpsed, for weeks, all everyone could talk about was how strong Tayden was! My best friend glimpsing so high was a big deal as only my father has been lifted higher during his glimpse in the past fifty years.
When Tayden's glimpse was over, Erika and Peter ran and hugged their son. Anyone could see they were beyond proud to have such a powerful son. After the glimpse, one of our elders’ came to Tayden, grabbed his hand and read what his power would be.
Ahhh child, you will be a powerful one indeed. You, Tayden Rossi Lombardo, will have super strength and valor.
Said Elder Henrietta Grasso and everyone gasped as soon as she foretold what his powers will be. The norm was to develop one power. Having two powers was nearly unheard of. And for both of these powers to be among the superior ones it will automatically catapult Tayden into superhero standards guaranteeing him a place in our history books.
Tayden had always been popular, but after his glimpse, he's been on a whole different level. For starters, he no longer has free time to spend gazing at the stars with me at night or playing with me. Plus, I hear his responsibilities are greater as he will now attend Millena Royal Academy where he will have a curriculum tailored to maximize his potential.
**
Today's my tenth birthday and I am super nervous! I look at myself in the mirror and smile. My long sapphire blue hair is nice and straight today, and my red eyes are as bright and vivid as ever. I look at my white dress and matching sandals and smile as Mom bought them for me to wear today.
I take a peek outside at my yard and groan seeing and lay down on a blanket and look up at the sky. Doing this always seems to calm me down.
What are you thinking about?
Asks Tayden, as he lays down next to me.
I was just thinking how incredible the universe is. So vast and magnificent,
I admit before Tayden turns and looks at me. I do my best not to stare as I can easily get lost in the depths of his beautiful lavender eyes.
How many galaxies can you distinguish now?
Tayden asks. I grin as I briefly dare to look at him. Two hundred and forty-six,
I say proudly before I amend my statement. But don't tell anyone! The others already think I'm a freak. Things would only get worse for me if they knew this.
Tayden stands and raises me along with him. Although he's only a year older than me, he's already much taller and stronger than I am. Perfect. He's perfect with his fair skin, platinum straight hair that falls into his lavender eyes. He's beyond gorgeous!
Sapphire, you are not a freak. As long as I live, no one will harm you. I promise you that.
Tayden says as we hug tight.
You truly mean it?
I pull back and look into his beautiful eyes and he smiles.
I do,
he says before coming closer
