Little leaks can sink big boats. I can personally attest to the truth in this quote. I am married to the man I’ve loved since I was 17 years old. I was convinced that our love was impenetrable.

We had our faults, but my marriage was built stronger than any ship and could withstand any icebergs out there, so I thought. Then I learned that the walls had been breached, and we were taking on water. Fortunately, this is no Titanic tale. We immediately turned to God, to our pastor and his wife, to marriage mentors for counseling, and eventually back toward each other.

Unsinkable is a 30-day devotional that takes a head-on approach to preparing couples on how to navigate the rough seas of marriage. It’s the support I longed for when my marriage (and my world was) turned upside down after my husband’s emotional affair. In the raw moments after I learned of his infidelity, we needed all the help we could get. We leaned on every theory I’d learned in graduate school studying marriage and family therapy, on every scripture we’d used to counsel couples in marriage ministry, and on every tool we learned in all of our relationship training certifications. Most of all, we leaned on God and the wisdom of His Holy Spirit. It’s the combination of all of those elements that we would like to offer you now.

It was in a moment that appeared like the end of our marriage that we slowly began to realize that God was not destroying us. He was rebuilding us. But there were some things that had to be removed and broken down first. Certain attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors were hindering us from truly accomplishing the purpose God set for our union.
