About this ebook

JORDYN: A YA First Love Long-Distance Romance (The Destination Series Prequel)

Jordyn- The first time I met Nathan was on a business trip with our dads, and he was an annoying little nerd the whole time.

Over the years… Nathan has grown up. His voice has deepened, he's taller, and he's confident, giving me a glimpse of the man, he'll someday be. The earlier irritation I've always felt for him has not only disappeared, but it has also grown into a full-blown crush. The best part is Nathan says he feels the same way about me and has just been waiting for me to catch up!

The problem is, our parents think we're too young, we have hundreds of miles between us, and my cell phone is broken so the only time I can talk to him is if I borrow my nosey mom's phone. Can Nathan and I overcome these obstacles together, or will our budding relationship turn out to be just puppy love?

    Jordyn - LEA MARTIN

    One

Ididn’t look forward to the yearly car trip to New York. Traveling there every year wasn’t my favorite activity. My little sisters could be genuine pains on a twenty-four-hour a day basis. Their ages were two and four. Leaving Friday night, we started out two days before the convention started. My dad planned to drive awhile, then get a hotel. We spent a lot of our time cleaning up after Ashlyn- from her messes in the car to her occasional potty-training accidents. We made it near Pennsylvania around nine o’clock at night before my dad started scanning for hotels along the highway as my mom checked prices on her phone. My dad’s spending account only covered a fraction of the cost, and he always had to pay the difference. When I checked into the hotel room, I could see two beds, a reminder that I would have to share with Morgyn, as my mom and dad rented a crib for Ashlyn.

We got to New Jersey about noon on Sunday. Dad needed to pick up a thumb drive at his colleague, Bobby’s, house, which was a small stucco cottage near the shore. His son Nathan answered the door, wearing no shirt or shoes, and gray, knee-length nylon shorts. He had grown taller than me. He greeted my parents and my sisters, but his attention shifted to me almost immediately. Hi, Jordyn. It’s great to see you again, he said, standing between his mom and dad as he adjusted his glasses to see me better. He wasn’t gross about it, but he liked what he saw. As kids, he’d been impossible. I knew he had a crush on me for ages.

Hi Nate, Nate said. He looked a lot like his mom, but I noticed he had his dad’s long, wide feet.

    Tired. How about you?

I’m doing okay. Nathan paused, his auburn hair, with its delicate wave, brushing against his fingertips as he ran his hand through it.

Well, hey! If it isn’t Mr. Thompson! Bobby said to my father.

Bobby Johann... nice to see you! my dad said, switching Morgyn from the right side to his left to shake Bobby’s hand.

    Hey, Ashlyn! Bobby said.

Hey Bubby, she said, as Bobby grinned down at her. Her speech was improving, but certain letters of the alphabet got mixed up.

Hi, Ashlyn! Nathan’s mom, Amy, said.

Ashlyn clung to my mom’s leg and hid her face, but you could see she smiled from the back of her head.

"I thought maybe we could talk in my room. Don’t worry, it’s just the living
