About this ebook

Crystal

I've liked Jeremy, the incredibly handsome new police chief, since the first time he came to my cafe.

He's not as into me as I am into him, but when there is a robbery at the café-theater, he not only cleans up the mess for me but assures me he will handle the case personally.

The way he comforts me makes me weak in the knees

And now I'm thinking that perhaps, my increasingly strong feelings aren't totally one-sided.

Jeremy

From the moment I saw Crystal, I haven't been able to stop thinking about her.

She's gorgeous, smart, and more than a little bit sexy.

But I keep my distance. I have a past that proves I don't deserve Crystal. Or love.

My friends disagree and the more they urge me to move forward, the more I wonder if I have made a mistake.

But if I tell her my secret, will she say yes?

Two beers coming right up. I manoeuvred through the crowd, glancing around only for a second before I handed the beers out to Daphne and Jax, two of the many patrons who frequented my cafe. As always, the cafe was packed.

The atmosphere was airy and fun with Dolly Parton songs playing lightly in the background. Not loud enough to drown conversation but enough to keep the mood cheery.

I pushed tendrils of my hair away from my face as I searched for him.

    Jeremy.

The familiar sound of chatter and the glasses clinking together filled the space. Walking back to the counter, I glanced at my watch, silently wondering why he wasn't here yet.

I owned one of the largest cafes in town which also served as a theatre on weekends. I was the director of the theatre group and what better way to do the two things I loved?

Searching for someone? Elizabeth, my best friend whispered behind me, and I nudged her lightly. Of course, she knew about Jeremy. Beth wiggled her brows knowingly.

She was a teacher at the Tracy Creek grade school, we had known each other since we were teenagers, and we were as tight as thieves.

Don't do that. It makes you look weird, I teased, and she sighed like I was a lost cause before she nudged her chin exaggeratedly at something behind me. Raising a brow, I turned around and almost forgot how to breathe.

Jeremy. The mystery that I wanted to unravel piece by piece. He was also the man who had taken over my dreams since the first day we met.

He had dark blue eyes, like the eye of a storm, and
