On 9 March 1911 IWD was first celebrated in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland for women’s right, vote, be trained, public office and end discrimination.
India observed national women’s day on Feb. 13 to mark the birth anniversary of Sarojini Naidu, who is popularly known as Nightingale of India. She was the first woman president of Indian National Congress (1925). She was the First woman Governor of a state of United Provinces, presently known as Uttar Pradesh.
