Every community has a philosophy of life. Many times it shines in its own glory and many times it loses its identity by coming in contact with other philosophies. But it is often the case that one is able to hold on to one's core even after meeting others. Tipra Philosophy is one of them. The main purpose of this book is to try to understand Tipra philosophy from the point of view of their religious traditions and moralities. This book has three chapter viz. Religious tradition of Tipra, Nature of Tipra religion and the presence of Morality in Tipra Folktales and religion. About Author: Shantaraj Debbarma is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy in Government college. He is the author of many articles that have been published in various online journals and magazines. He lives in Tripura.

Philosophy means the way of life. Every community has a philosophy of life. Many times it shines in its own glory and many times it loses its identity by coming in contact with other philosophies. But it is often the case that one is able to hold on to one's core even after meeting others. Tipra Philosophy is one of them. The main purpose of this book is to try to understand Tipra philosophy from the point of view of their religious traditions and moralities. This book has three chapter viz. Religious tradition of Tipra, Nature of Tipra religion and the presence of Morality in Tipra Folktales and religion. Attempts have been made in this book to determine the place of Tipra philosophy.

Introduction
Religious traditions are the one of the most important key to understand the culture of any community. Culture is closely related to religion especially when we say about Indigenous culture. The culture is expressed by the art, music, dance, literature, folklores, rites and rituals of the religion. Culture is the sum total of all these.
The Tipras are the people who speak Kokborok or Tipra kok. They currently use the following surnames e.g. Debbarma, Jamatia, Reang, Noatia, Rupini, Murasingh, Ochoi,Tripura and Kalai. Tripura (one of the state of India) is the main habitat of the Tipras. Like other aborigines religion their religious belief is also Animism, the term is derived from Latin ‘anima’ which means breathe, spirit and life.
