    TEACHING PLANS

    CONFIDENT HOPE

    Dear Teacher,

Believing and trusting God in all things and sharing that faith with others is the focus of this year’s theme, which is Confident Hope.We are privileged to equip you with the necessary tools to fulfill your calling as a Christian educator. Youth are often challenged to find their hope and fulfillment in Christ. As educators we are challenged to point them to Christ as the primary source of their hope.

This quarter begins with a foundational principle, emploring us not to worry. Worry and fear are indicators of our lack of trust and possibly our belief in God. Youth worry about the future, family and their ultimate purpose in life. This common struggle is addressed in the Gospels. Throughout the Gospels, readers encounter the teachings and miracles of Jesus. From Matthew to Mark, your students will understand how the scriptures demonstrate the source of our power and the source of our hope. Faith is a gift that God freely and readily imparts to His disciples.

How do we maintain our hope in this current climate that is testing our faith to its very core? Sickness and fear are captivating our communities, but Jesus is still alive as an ever-present source of hope. Leviticus continues to address the importance of maintaining the well-being of the community.

The quarter continues with Paul’s teaching on the importance of living by faith.

He unpacks the teaching about being reconciled to God by justification through faith and teaches that salvation is for all. Hebrews defines faith in Christ as a basis for hope and tells how faith in Christ gives hope that helps people persevere in all circumstances. First John promises that faith conquers the world. Second Corinthians teaches about hope in God’s gift of eternal life.

As always, thank you for partnering with us as we prepare the heart, transform the mind and plant spiritual truths that change lives!

    Sincerely,

5 WAYS TO ADD DIY CREATIVITY TO YOUR SUNDAY MORNING

At times you need to add a little something new or fresh to your Sunday morning that may not be directly connected to the curriculum. It could be a prize for kids who learn their memory verses or unique crafts. But most churches don’t have a big budget for this type of spontaneity. Fortunately, there are places you can go that won’t break the bank and could provide the DIY inspiration you need. Check out these 5 ways to add DIY creativity to your Sunday morning.

Cheap Dollar Stores – A surprising number of Christian-related crafts and/or knickknacks are available at those stores that sell anything for a dollar. On any given day, you can also find trinkets from candles to inspirational mugs and sometimes even crosses.

Little Free Library – Yes, those little houses on the lawns of houses across America. Google it. On their site, they have a map of Little Free Libraries across the country. You’ll almost always find children’s books in great condition. The idea is that you take a book and share a book, if you have one. That could even be a fun Sunday School group activity.

Pinterest & Instagram – So many moms, dads, and Christian educators have blogs and Instagram pages filled with Christian education activities and ideas for your Sunday morning. You’ll find yourself with more ideas than you could ever imagine.

YouTube – You can find many Church Of God In Christ Christian education groups sharing their activities, projects, crafts, mission trips, games, experiments, and more.

Homeschoolers – Homeschoolers, more often than not, are very strong in their faith and dedicated to making Christian education a part of their unique curriculum. Many have blogs and websites dedicated to homeschooling, but also sharing creative ways to teach Christian education.
