About this ebook

She's a witch in a demon hunter's world…

Angela Jordan is a witch with a very particular set of skills. One of those skills has her embroiled in the demon hunter world. Not her calling. But the hunt still lures her in. Confronting the kinds of nightmares most humans never have to face, Angie accepts the work though she wouldn't go so far as to say she enjoys it. Still, demon hunting keeps her close to the man she loves. And saving innocent lives is worth the danger.

But ensuring demons aren't loosed on the human realm comes at a cost. One that might be too high for Angie to pay.

For those who fight their own personal demons

And live to fight another day.

And for my family. Who help me face my demons.

    Chapter One

Angie Jordan let out a slow breath and tried not to breathe back in too deeply. She still gagged. The smell of sulfur and roasting meat coated the back of her tongue with rotten egg flavor, overcoming the more pleasant scents of damp earth, juniper, pine, and oak trees. After two years of doing this, she’d have thought she’d be used to the stench. But no. It still turned her stomach every time.

The ground beneath her was cold and hard, the damp soil leeching through her jeans. There’d be snow in this part of the Sandia Mountains soon. She could practically taste it. Or at least she had before the sulfur stink permeated all her senses. She welcomed the cold. It was a much-needed counterpoint to the heat from the escaped demon standing twenty feet below them.

She wasn’t sure how she felt about a demon being loose practically in her backyard—well, at least the mountains east of where she lived
