About this ebook

Christmas in Hawaii is just what she needs…

When a disaster with her former boss sends Jessica Warwick to Hawaii to dog-sit for a college friend, she expects to spend a few months escaping her past and working out her future. And Christmas on the North Shore in Hawaii definitely qualifies as a nice consolation prize after her frightening Thanksgiving. She doesn't count on the sexy firefighter next door disturbing her peace.

Kevin Nakoa knows Jessica spells disaster the minute his neighbor introduces the new dog-sitter. She's temporary, only on Oahu for six months, and Kevin isn't a winter fling kind of guy. Even if the sexy New Yorker has him rethinking that stance. But he promised his neighbor he'd keep an eye on Jessica. And when an escaped dog forces him into spending time with her, Kevin knows he's in trouble.

Christmas in Hawaii brings a reckoning for Jessica. But also a lot of hope. And with Kevin, the possibility for more.

    Chapter One

Awarm tropical breeze brushed Jessica’s hair back from her face as she hunted the rough, salt-worn wooden fence edging the property with her phone’s flashlight. Moonlight painted the surrounding sea grass a soft blue-green. The ferns lining the fence cast feathery shadows. Salt and hibiscus flavored the air, and the sounds of the ocean waves thundered just a block away. Winter in the Pacific brought twenty and thirty foot swells. No gentle shooshing night sounds to lull her to sleep. No, this was an earth-shuddering boom that made her pulse jump with each crash.

Biscuit, she called in between the breaking waves. Come on, girl. Where’d you go?

She’d been housesitting—and dog sitting—for exactly three days, and she’d already lost the dog. Two days before Christmas, and she’d lost someone’s beloved pet.

Anthony was going to kill her.

Fortunately, the house wasn’t right on the beach. She was pretty sure Biscuit wouldn’t have gone that far. At least she hoped not. Those crashing waves would suck up the corgi in a blink. The very idea had Jessica’s stomach doing flip flops. She hunted deeper into the ferns, walking along the edge of the fence.

Come on, Biscuit, she called again. Don’t do this to me. Please. Come on, girl. Where are you?

The light from her flashlight danced over a break in the fence, a section missing that led into the neighbor’s yard. She hadn’t noticed that before. Maybe the energetic corgi had made her way next door? Jessica considered her temporary neighbor’s house. A decent sized home up on stilts, this one built from darker wood than Anthony’s white and sand wood siding. The area beneath the stilts functioned as a garage with
