About this ebook

She would rather burn in his presence than pine in his absence

Faith Wellingford Evers, Duchess of Ashedon, is tired of society's endless gossiping about her failings and her late husband's infidelities. Seeking escape one night, she's attacked by ruffians, but is saved by an unlikely figure from her past!

Having risen from penniless orphan to Member of Parliament, David Tanner Smith is no longer the quiet boy Faith once knew. With the first spine-tingling kiss, their old friendship is transformed. And in its place is an explosive mix of illicit encounters and forbidden desire

Author

Julia Justiss

Long before embarking on romantic adventures of her own, Julia Justiss read about them, transporting herself to such favourite venues as ancient Egypt, World War II submarine patrols, the Old South and, of course, Regency England. Soon she was keeping notebooks for jotting down story ideas. When not writing or traveling, she enjoys watching movies, reading and puttering about in the garden trying to kill off more weeds than flowers.

Set in Victorian England this is the story of a widow living down the story of her husband's wild life, trying to raise her sons, trying to deal with her mother-in-law and fending off her brother-in-law. She's saved from being attacked by some ruffians by David Tanner Smith, whom she knew when they were both younger. He has to deal with the fact that he's come from very poor beginnings to fighting for others and universal suffrage. The two of them have to find a way to come together but it's complicated and messy and her in-laws are truly nasty. It's an interesting trip to romance and a happy ever after and you could see the logic of both of their stances, it's a fun ride.
