Determinism Vs Indeterminism
()
About this ebook
This is a new book with the goal of resolving an ancient debate about determinism. When most people think of determinism, they think about it in the context of the free will debate. They see it as some esoteric philosophical mumbo jumbo, but don't see how it applies to their lives.
To help simplify how things are caused, I included a fictional story about a man named Bob who is trying to lose weight. He meets a friend who helps him learn how to not blame his other friends for their ignorant advice.
People say that if determinism is true, then free will is false. They think that determinism is the opposite of free will, but in fact, if determinism is false, then the alternative is indeterminism. Both determinism and indeterminism are incompatible with “free will” or “freedom of the will”.
That being said, the main point this book is not about free will. Instead, I want to clarify what Determinism and Indeterminism are. I will start by giving dictionary definitions for determinism on the following page. Then I will discuss how our everyday experiences show that most of us are already determinists but don't know it.
Anyhow, I hope that you enjoy this book and learn something valuable from it. I may not succeed in resolving the debate about whether all things are caused or whether some things happen for no reason at all. My hope is that you learn something which helps you in your life.
Chastity White Rose
My birth/legal name is Chandler Klebs but for all personal and professional purposes I use the name Chastity White Rose. This is completely explained in my different books I have published. I have many books on Amazon and I am recently getting started with Smashwords. My older books are under my old name and some are under my new name. I am transgender and have vowed celibacy and this had led to some strange inspiration in my writing.I consider the book titled: "Chandler's Honesty" to be the best of all my books. It provides the most information about my journey. However I also republished my very first book "Confessions of a Confused Virgin" on Smashwords as well. The difference between my beliefs has changed a lot in the 8 year difference between these books but I am the same confused virgin I was back then, except perhaps more confused after I talked to Honesty the unicorn.
