Foreword
by Mark Spray
F ourteen workers.
I sat shocked as Toni revealed this answer to me two years ago when I asked how many virtual staff she had working for her at that particular time. I had just thought I had tipped the iceberg at five, but Toni had taken things to the next level as expected.
So how did this all start? Well, my name is Mark Spray, and I was lucky enough to meet Toni at a business networking group many years back. And as we got to know each other repeatedly over the years, we realised we had a few things in common. Small business owners, our partners were also in the business with us, and weirdly we ended up with our factories pretty much in stone throwing distance. And it was fascinating to compare marketing, staff hiring, firing, and figuring out how to dominate a market and not burn out in the process.
That was the secret key; how do you not burn out with the workload required to market, close sales, implement change and many other things needed to drive a business and grow it while taking time to be around for your family? Over the years, I noticed that very few of my business friends had the magic of what Toni had. They stayed stuck, or just after a few years said it was too hard and sold their business or closed up shop.
On the other hand, Toni expanded her product range, hired more staff, and took over another business until they were one of the largest glass and aluminium businesses in town. With little time for growth and development, she had learnt very quickly and threw out the ‘business rule book’ and started over again, putting in systems each day, creating automation processes and virtualising staff to help the local team.
I felt like I knew a rock star business owner, she kept so much of this quiet to everyone, as that is her personality to ensure she must strive for growth and strength to make her business succeed. Toni is what I would call an action taker; as soon as she has enough information, she will implement it. Not afraid to take risks and with enough grit to never give up or to find alternative ways to succeed.
In your hands right now is a book that could dramatically change your business and your life for the better. Maybe it helps reduce burnout, get more hours in your day, not sacrifice yours in return, guide you to work smarter and break many beliefs around your business. Best of all, delivered from a similar person who understands your business as they have lived through the same ups and downs as you.

Introduction
Have you ever considered that there may be a better way to manage your business but were afraid to sift through the available opportunities due to the prospect of failing?
This book will serve established small business owners (with revenue of six-figures to seven-figures) who do everything themselves. With the ever-growing fast-paced advancements in technology, most business owners do not realise the potential improvements that are available to them within their grasp. Why?
They have started their business, built it from scratch (usually from home), now have a location, and are wearing all of the hats within their business and are too consumed by the workload.
Yes, you (the business owner) might have wonderful family holidays, take breaks often to recharge, but do you take the time to re-evaluate your business to streamline and automate it with a human touch?
This book will describe how I, Toni Turner, the owner and founder of Diverse Glass & Aluminium, worked alongside my husband to build our trade-based business from a startup to become an award-winning seven-figure company with twelve team members and over ten virtual assistants.
You will learn how to break your business down into categories and assess what you have to ensure you are providing excellent high-quality service to your customers, effective and efficient with automation and most importantly, profitability.
My purpose in life is to help small business owners to end each day with happiness, joy and love for their business. This will be achieved by hiring offshore virtual assistants for a fraction of the price you would pay for a local employee.
By changing your mindset and allowing a shift, you’ll develop a new understanding of virtual assistants and how they can implement many changes within your business to be cost-effective, enthusiastic and to relieve time from you to allow you to Outsource Like a Boss.
Chapter 1
Breakthrough
To conquer frustration, one must remain intensely focused on the outcome, not the obstacles.
T.F. Hodge
All business owners know it’s gosh darn hard work to own, run and operate a business. There is not a day that goes by when you aren’t thinking about the business, your customers and how you might change operations within your business.
I understand everyone has a story to tell, and many business owners have so many stories you all could write a book about them, so this is what I am doing. I want to share my learnings. That through outsourcing, I can help business owners grow their businesses, reclaim their time, become more organised and provide a higher level of service to their customers.
THERE IS NO MAGIC PILL, JUST REMODELING THE MODERN WAYS WE ARE TAUGHT TO RUN A BUSINESS.
We are taught that being a business owner means:
You need to work long hours every day and push yourself to breaking point to make ends meet.
You aren’t allowed to have holidays as it’s seen to be a luxury when you should be working!
You must have everything ‘together’ and appear to be ‘making it.’
All of these false pretences drive most business owners around the bend. They either give up their business, walk away or lose everything trying to keep their family together, all the while failing at that too!
This happened to me too!
Just to lay some foundations:
I believe it’s essential to give you some background to explain how I turned the management of our business on its head and changed the history of our 21-year-old company to bring it into the digital world whilst maximising profits and gaining control.
My husband and I had built a great glass and aluminium company in our city. Over five years, my husband grew the business from a start-up with no contacts. He didn’t steal or poach clients, he earnt every client by being himself, taking pride in his craft, and providing a high standard of services within the residential and commercial industry.
As I watched his business grow, I decided to sell my real estate agency to help him build his business and take it to the next level to hire employees and manage that growth.
A few years later, we were approached to purchase a family business (also a glass and aluminium company). This company was much
