    About This Book

    In this book, I have outlined a few ways you could be accidentally sabotaging your training sessions. These are small, subtle things that I have noticed happen most commonly over the past decade. I have either seen this happen with one of my clients or experienced these in my training.

    We go through each point and break them down. This enables us to see training sessions just a little differently. I include my experiences throughout my life that may help you understand each point. We try to put ourselves in our dog’s paws. This allows us to see solutions we otherwise may miss.

    I have seen these mistakes occur many times. I know I have made these same mistakes. When I look back on my life, I can see where I could have changed the outcome of some training sessions. Times where I failed to look at the training session through my dog’s eyes. It helps to look at these situations from their perspective to enable us to find alternative solutions.

    Many times I get told My dog’s not trainable, or, He’s too stupid to learn new things. A very famous saying is, You can’t teach an old dog new tricks. Most often people will blame their dog’s breed for not catching onto something.

    My dog is a Pug so he can’t do agility. Huskies can’t learn to come when called. Sometimes it’s a location. My dog only listens to me in class. or My dog only listens at home.

    I could go on and on about misconceptions in dog training. Most of these I have seen get debunked. I have seen pugs play agility and get titles from participating in the sport. I have taught classes where the Husky in the group had
