As Earth Evolved - Carole "Lisa Lynn" Gilbert

    Chapter 1

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters, Genesis 1:1-2 (ESV).

Earth has been evolving since it first began, changing with every season. It has forever been evolving to its’ end. The earth started from a dark place and was then filled with light and living creatures by God.

But many years later, the world would find itself dark and void again except for the manmade light created under the manmade domes. Nothing was as it once was. Whatever the settlement was in the beginning that the moon and sun were hung from was starting to change. Whatever held the earth together and in its present state was beginning to change. Everything the earth knew to be, was not going to be anymore. Whether the atmosphere was thick or thin did not matter. The world as people knew it did not matter. Life as people knew it did not matter. Creation and conception of life, the rearing of children, and the way it had been from the beginning of time did not matter. Some of it was to seize existence altogether. The knowledge of God was about to seize existence. It was all about to change. And with change comes either destruction or deliverance, or maybe it is a revolving cycle of both. Either way, the next cycle of change was beginning.

The year was 2250. The world was calm and beautiful, or so it seemed. It was a true Garden of Eden with a lot of it underground. It was a created system, and it kept the surface of the earth for each of the continents livable, the same perfect 75 degrees, and full of everything lush and beautiful. The air was as crisp and clean as any air had ever been. The trees and grass and all the vegetation were so lush and had such vibrant colors with Professor Steve Scott, head of the World Engineering Institute (WE Institute), creating and ruling it all. The waterfalls were the only part of this system solely underground. They flowed into pools of aqua blue only to be cycled back up to the top of the waterfall and down again. These were the main source of energy for the world.

The Professor was a quiet man. He was of average height with a slight build. He had light brown hair and was not overly handsome, but he had an overly big and sensitive heart along with a charming demeanor. When he was working, he would put on his glasses that gave him such a scientist look. Otherwise, he looked just like anyone’s grandpa. He was out to help save the world and mankind. He would have never thought what was to come was in his heart.

Ten years before, while everyone was going about their busy lives and everything seemed well and good, scientists at the World Engineering Institute noticed the sun seemed dimmer and less hot. The sea levels were changing rapidly. They started testing these changes, to delve into the effects the sun weakening caused on the moon and the world. They tested the provisions the sun provided and noticed vegetation did not seem to be growing as well. They noticed the air seemed thinner making it harder to breathe outside. They most disturbingly noticed the sun was not in its normal position on its alignment with earth. The sun was falling, and the moon was fading. The oceans were getting colder. Everything on earth seemed to be out of balance. Professor Scott found that the gravitational pull which is caused by the sun and moon seemed less strong.

Professor Scott knew if they lost the sun and moon, everything and everyone would freeze in a matter of only about eight minutes. He knew he had to save earth and all its people, so he went to work. He came up with a computerized plan that would sustain earth, but it would have sacrifices for everyone. It took only ten years to put his plan in place. He kept calculations of the moon and sun's positions during these years and knew they were losing them and all their wondrous benefits. He also kept up with measurements of gravitational force around the world. He could see changes in the measurements and the effect it was having. He was determined he would not lose lives when this tragedy came about.

The Professor came up with the idea to lay underground electrical currents to feed all the areas in the earth that would be saved from the depending disaster. He had an assistant, Sam Westmore, a tall slender man with dark hair and dark eyes. Sam was a specialist in several Engineering fields. He was to be a big part of designing this system since he had educational degrees in mechanical and genetic engineering as well as computer sciences. He came up with the blueprints for engines and generators that would be the fuel behind Professor Scott’s ideas for an underground electrical system. There was also a hydropower system powered by water turbines and the waterfalls running constantly or whenever Professor Scott found necessary. He held the pass code in his possession to run the entire system so at any time he had the power to turn it off, to stop all life in this new world. It was all extraordinarily complex, but Professor Scott and Sam had extraordinarily complex minds.

This was the only plan they could come up with to sustain life. There was no Plan B. It may have been a complex plan, but it was also incredibly beautiful. The rivers, land, cities, and each continent were run by servers from this electrical system with the main computer network in Professor Scott’s office. They had built a large building complex to house his office and all the necessary computers next to the WE Institute. That way he could provide service and have service from them. The Professor even had an apartment built for himself inside this building.

The Professor’s computer system in his office went to the system that was built underground beneath each continent. There was an atmospheric and weatherproof shield in the shape of a dome built to encase each continent on the earth's surface. These domes would help keep enough mass together under them that would keep the gravitational force active. That was how the Professor planned to keep life on the earth instead of falling into extinction without the sun. The domes were sealed airtight from the outside subzero freezing weather. Each dome had an exhaust vent in the top that could be opened if needed and a specific spot on the side designed with a temperature reading station where the Professor could collect data outside the domes and read the temperatures. He was always watching for a change. All islands between the continents would freeze when the sun fell, and the moon faded, so they would no longer exist. The people on these islands were moved inland.

The Professor tried to keep the environment of each continent as much the same from before the domes as was possible. All the buildings, including all living spaces for the people, had to be built upward to allow for the smaller space underneath the domes. The living quarters for the people were called compartments because they were a smaller version of an apartment. The compartment buildings were almost as tall as the domes and some of the compartments rooms even had a view to the edge of the dome. Everything inside these compartments were of smaller scale and very sterile and simplified. There was no room under the domes for clutter and there was no germs, dust, filth, or excess stuff. The Professor had made sure this world would be as simple as it could be. It had to be this way since space was so limited.

Sam and the Professor constructed a tunnel system combining new tunnels with already built tunnels and underground cities. They started in North America and ran their system underground from Houston, Texas, their home base, to Portland, Oregon’s underground city known as the Shanghai Tunnels. Their tunnels were then built north to Moose Jaw, Canada’s already constructed tunnels all the way toward the east to combine the many tunnels under New York City. From there the system was built southward to South America. They built into the massive burrows thought to be prehistoric that were there.

The tunnel continued under the Atlantic Ocean to the old postal tunnels under Johannesburg, South Africa up to Europe using the Wieliczka Salt Mines outside of Krakow, Poland. From there the tunnel continued through Dixia Cheng, Beijing, China’s underground city. They also incorporated Derinkriyu, the underground city in central Turkey between Asia and Europe.

Then they headed south through Australia’s amazing tunnel system under Perth that runs all the way under the continent to Sydney. They completed the system attaching the seven continents using the underground tunnels already built under the ice of Antarctica and then built the tunnel back toward South America to Houston, Texas, where they had started at the home base.

These tunnels completely encircled the earth. They were big enough for the ships to export goods from one continent to another underground and away from the deadly freezing temperatures. They also housed the Gardens of Eden under each continent. The Professor had another set of smaller tunnels that connected to each of these tunnels but also went straight to each continent so he could travel between them quickly. These were big enough for a smaller ship that would carry him and what he needed to the continents.

The underground structures were large and open enough to hold Professor Scott’s Gardens of Eden. And the earth’s core helped sustain the 75-degree temperatures inside the gardens and the domes. Each continent’s Garden of Eden underground was filled with waterfalls falling in a cycle form to generate electricity into hydropower plants and then dispersed to the cities on the surface. The lush vegetation was created for each continent through hydroponics, so no soil was needed and watered from the waterfalls. The vegetation included that which was needed for food supplies and would be brought up to the people on the surface. Everything was grown underground and what was needed to be brought to the surface was done by only a few people and picked by the Professor.

Travel between the continents was only done for trade purposes of agriculture and meat for food and was only done if necessary. The only way this travel could happen was through the underground tunnels built to house the connecting computer wiring systems which were attached to the top of the tunnels. When import needed to be done Professor Scott would turn on the controls and the oceanic rivers would flow through the tunnels big enough for ships to carry the goods needed across. And all this for every continent was operated by one computer that Professor Scott controlled since he was the mastermind. Only essential workers were allowed on the ships along with the Professor and Sam. No one else was allowed to travel between the continents.

The Professor would go through his Gardens of Eden on every trip to each continent to inspect them and he would do the same with each dome. He maintained a rigorous schedule overseeing all his creations.

Professor Scott also controlled the seasons, the food that was raised for distribution, the water cycled for people to drink and for electricity. The livestock and every form of food were raised by computer programming and by computerized natural resources. Everything was programmed by the Professor. He even controlled the weather, daylight, and nighttime for each continent.

Each home was furnished with one large screen for news briefs, updates from Professor Scott, and shows for the entire family to watch and was also controlled by the Professor. These were called the Big Screens. Each town square had a larger Big Screen for news and updates also. And each of the seven continents; Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, and Europe, had a WE Institute office building built, along with an apartment for the Professor, and people hired for correspondence with him.

It was extremely important for the Professor to
