Foreword
Throughout my life, I’ve had many feelings of confusion, mainly because of the differences in the luxury lifestyles of my white grandparents compared to the unfair, restrictive lifestyles of my black grandparents. It confused me that my white grandparents, who were privileged and had an abundance of everything, were selfish, mean, and hateful, while my black grandparents, who were denied privilege and had very little material possessions, were giving, caring, and loving. All of this was because of the color of their skin.
Preface
The motivation and inspiration for writing this book is because of the long history of black Americans being injured or killed in encounters with police or targeted with violence because of the color of their skin. Sorrowfully, the names are too many to post, and I wouldn’t want to leave a name off—because all lives matter.

Chapter 1
How do I join in the controversial conversation of black and white issues, when the blood of both races runs through my veins? If a race war were ever to break out, I’d have to exclude myself, because I couldn’t or wouldn’t choose a side. In school during my youth, the Declaration of Independence of the United States was introduced to me, and it was met with much confusion. The second paragraph begins as follows:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator [God, our Father] with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness, —That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, —That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends,
