IS THAT CLEAR? - Zanne Gaynor
We would like to thank our autistic readers for their valuable insights and helpful contributions:
It’s fab, an amazing read! Super sections, clear and to the point. I’ve enjoyed it a lot.
Vic Borghi
I love what the book is aiming to do and appreciate that there are people out there working to improve things.
Ian Braisby
I think it is a really useful, accessible and practical guide for non-autistic people. It should be key reading for parents and professionals.
Sarah-Jane Critchley
I have read through it and I believe a lot of the things mentioned in the text are correct and it was easy to read and understand, there were no sentences that I thought were pointless and it does a good job explaining what autistic people experience.
Joe Cumberbatch
A book like this is incredibly validating and will not only make for better communication between autistic and allistic people, but will change the way that people see and respect how autistic people communicate. It’s such an important book and twists the narrative on its head, so thank you.
Erin Ekins
Extremely clear and concise, and covers all the main points.
Robert Greenall
I really like your book… it looks awesome! It's clear and succinct. I'm happy that you let me read over it before publication.
Benjamin-Rose Ingall
The tips were very well laid out and I liked that the authors acknowledged that everyone has a responsibility to make their communication clear. I particularly liked how they warn people against drawing attention to autistic people's communication errors as that has happened to me and it frustrates me so much. Thank you.
Catrin Lawrence
Nice to see publications like this being produced, that take a respectful approach to communication with autistic people.
Dr Damian Milton
It is really thoughtfully written and I think it will be an incredibly useful resource – thank you so much for all the hard work that has gone into it.
Eddy Phillips
This all looks great and seems very well thought out and presented and was very easy to follow. I hope it does well and makes a positive difference. It was helpful without feeling patronising – a breath of fresh air.
Peggy Powell
It’s a very clear and useful guide, thank you.
Max Shenton
With thanks also to the following readers for their kind comments and feedback:
Anyone reading this guide should be able to easily take on board the recommendations and implement them into day to day life. Those who are able to make adjustments will definitely support more effective two-way communication.
Emma Chantler, Autism Education Trust
A lot of ground is covered in a short space. I think it's a very valuable resource.
Paul Craven
The layout and informal style of the book is fantastic and the emphasis on the non-autistic person adapting their communication is a welcome change.
Suzanne Farrell
This book really helps you realise how much further we all have to go to make it a truly accessible society. It should be handed out in every establishment in the country!
Geoffrey Hames
Really easy to read containing many strategies that will help communication for autistic people and those they interact with.
