    Preface

    Nature is miraculous.  No matter where you live on this planet, there is a rhythm and a cadence to the natural world that surrounds you.  In no other being is there as much pure delight in this world than in the young child.  Even the simplest of things like splashing in mud puddles, making clover crowns, finding special rocks and faerie tears, or catching leaves as they fall from the tree are all experiences of fanfare and delight for children. In today's world of a fast-paced, hurry-and-go culture, rampant with technological advances, in many ways we have forgotten the natural order of things.  Chiefly, the joy that comes with the simple things that our children have the built-in capacity to enjoy. As parents, it was always important to my husband and I that we find a place where our son could not only experience the natural world around him, but also learn to cherish it and the connections that create the fabric of life. We wanted something to inspire his natural curiosity and develop his natural character such that he has the root-strength to be a productive citizen of the world.
