    Storms - E. Daphne Roberts

    Endorsements

We often forget that God created us and knows our nature. We are designed to depend on Him. In this book, Daphne’s comparison of practical and spiritual living causes us to remember that our strength truly lies in our God as noted in His Word.

    – Mary Cummings

    Founder, Shekinah Ministries

Author of the inspirational books, The Restlessness of the Call and People of the Presence

Having worked with Daphne for many years, I’ve come to know of her sound, logical, analytic thought process. One of Daphne’s favorite sayings is keep it simple She does a wonderful job of explaining how Christians can manage the weathering of personal life-event storms, by comparing to the more understood concept of dealing with weather related storms. The book is short, and to-the-point…. and keeps it simple.

    – Randall Leonpacher, CHEE/Business Process Architect Albemarle Corporation

My brother and I grew up in a home with a single mother who necessarily wore many hats: bread-winner, tutor, disciplinarian, counselor, cook, chauffer, boo-boo healer, mechanic, coach, barber, referee, plumber, handyman, etc. Our home was filled with both love and laughter; it was a warm, safe and secure place to be. I can assure you in the writing of this book, mom does not simply hand out contrived advice but rather life learned experience.

    – Wendy Smith, author’s daughter

Having been through several life-crisis storms, as well as having been the cause of a few for the author, in my opinion, this book is invaluable to the reader for help with recognition, reaction and recovery in regard to those storms.

    – Bo Roberts, author’s son

    About the Author

    Foreword

In August 1992, hurricane Andrew slammed into southern Florida as a category 5 storm with 177 mile an hour winds. Andrew was the costliest storm to ever hit the United States. 101,000 homes were damaged and 63,000 homes were entirely destroyed. As the storm approached, Joe and Tonya Fagan were like so many other south Floridians who found multiple excuses not to evacuate their home in Miami and go to a more adequate shelter. They soon regretted their decision. They survived several relentless hours of the storm hunkered down in their bathtub, clinging to each other and praying. Once the storm was over they climbed out and found that everything they had worked so hard for was destroyed. There were 44 other souls who were not so fortunate. Andrew was a hurricane for the record books but severe weather is not the only kind of storm that an individual will face. Some will be blasted with the storm of divorce while for others it will be disease and even death. Most of us can relate to financial storms and just as many can tell about the storm caused by a wayward spouse or child. Every Christian should make preparations for these life storms because they are the encumbrance of living in a cursed world.

I have had the privilege to work with Rev. E Daphne Roberts for over two decades. I can report that in the writing of this book, this gifted teacher does not speak from theory alone. She has survived more than a few of the terrible life storms. She shares some colloquial wisdom that has been passed down to her but most of these survival techniques were learned in a ground zero involvement. She embraces the undeniable reality of the impending storm that is coming to the reader and exposes how God expects us to prepare. She will take you on a journey through God’s Word and show you how to do more than just survive a life storm. After reading her simple correlation of practical wisdom and life application you will better understand how God has a plan for His children to survive and sometimes even thrive in the midst of a raging storm. I am sure that your life will be
