The Author is a retired College Administrator/Psychology Professor. He is also a U.S. Soldier/Retired SFC, with twenty-two years of demonstrated leadership in personnel, operations, logistics, counseling, and fiscal management in large complex organizations. Conducted stress management and various other presentations. He designed and implemented a stress management system for employees and supervisors, which impacted favorably on supervisor-subordinate relations, resulting in an increase in work performance. He performed Substance Abuse/Crisis Intervention Counselor duties for three military divisions. He also supervised the gathering and utilization of appropriate statistical data in order to prepare required reports for unit and division Commanders. The Author obtained an Ed. S. with a concentration in Counseling from Mississippi State University. He received a Master's Degree in Counseling/Psychology at the University of West Alabama. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree at Troy University.

This book is dedicated to recovering alcoholics and addicts all over the world.
Although I have been counseling recovering alcoholics and addicts for over thirty years, an opposing force seems to interrupt the process. That opposing force appears to be religion. People in recovery seem to believe that the Higher Power
and religion is one in the same.
When expressing their inability to turn their will over to a Higher Power, they make the following statement: Those folk in church are always judging me. It seems like they’re sharping their knives as I tell my story. They look down on me and act like they are better than me.
I found that to be very detrimental to their recovery process. So I did my best to explain to them that religion is a man-made concept, and that the Higher Power is a divine existence well beyond man’s control. Apparently, they were talking about Religious Fundamentalist, which, according to World Atlas, are people who believe in the absolute authority of a sacred religious text or teaching of a particular religious leader, prophet, and God.
Beliefs and feelings, rather than fact, make religion the most powerful phenomenon known to man!
Am I confused by religion, or did religion confuse me?
Religion caused me to have a drug problem until I was around sixteen years old. My mother drugged me to church every chance she got!
Who is religiously correct?
When we give up our free will to a higher power, we must make sure we are able to live at peace with the outcome.
Life is somewhat like watching a movie on television. You’re really enjoying it, and in a relaxed mode, then a commercial comes. Don’t you find that annoying? Me too! But I understand that in order to see the end of the movie, I must watch the commercials.
