About this ebook

Master Plan started as an idea developed through teasing my small stepchildren as they were growing up and, subsequently, their children (my grandkids). Master Plan takes a fictitious and humorous look at answering the question, Where do kids come from? And with all the things going on all over our planet today, it’s easy to argue that som

E.Norman Kimble

E. NORMAN KIMBLE is a self-employed entrepreneur, inventor, and novice writer. He was born on January 20, 1956, in a small country town named Hughes, Arkansas, to Solomon Kimble and Lueticher Fowler Kimble. Mr. Kimble grew up as a country boy in Lonoke, Arkansas, living on sharecropper farms with his father, his mother, and his other eight siblings: four sisters and four brothers. Mr. Kimble's parents were largely uneducated, as most black families were in the Deep South in the '30s, '40s, and '50s. Still, through hard work, perseverance, good work ethics, and a strong faith in God, Solomon and Lueticher were able to provide for all their children by whatever means they had available to them in such a remote area. When in third grade, Mr. Kimble was heavily influenced by his third-grade teacher, Ms. Pearl Armstrong, who would often take the young Emeil home with her as she was impressed with his intelligence and eagerness to learn. It was then that he understood how important a good education would become in this struggle called life. Mr. Kimble loves children and finds their contribution to everyday life simply remarkable. His hope is to share this love with you through this book. Mr. Kimble has a lovely wife, Kristi Labeaud Kimble and a beautiful daughter, Kaci Londyn Kimble to share his joy and love of life with.

    Introduction

Imagine if you will, that babies are born by the thousands each day, in all parts of the world. Imagine also, a world where population growth is so enormous that it is impossible to keep track of each person. Imagine again, this mass assimilation of people all has a hidden agenda, known only to a select few, where the very control of Earth itself is constantly at issue. Surely these masses must have performed some type of reconnaissance, developed some type of strategy, formulated some type of plan?

Just past the Sun and located in what we on Earth call the Milky Way Galaxy, among the condensed layers of ice crystals and intergalactic dust, lies a dying planet. A victim perhaps, of its need to adhere to cultural traditions that transcend time itself; the ability to reproduce asexually. Or perhaps a dependency on an atmosphere so closely affected by Earth but thought to be of no consequence to any other Being; a virtual life supply of regenerating light forms and sustenance-supplying energy call the Ozone Layer.

It is no secret that for the past 50 years, that something on this undiscovered planet was going dreadfully wrong. New UniBreeders were woefully deformed during the regenerating process. Since the Breeders as they refer to themselves, reproduce full grown duplicates (a process referred to by Breeders as Relopsing, with the clone being called a Relopse), infancy is a term never spoken in Breeder dialect. This will prove to create an insurmountable problem to any effort to infiltrate the Earth. Leading planetary scientists have been warning MONNOCH, the Supreme Leader, for years that Relopses were sub-par, and lacked essential skills for work (or noblogging) as the Breeders called it. Monnoch even assigned committees to review all aspects of interplanetary life and the effects of atmospheric changes, develop new and innovative equipment to simulate loss heat energy, and to assess the possibility of exploring new and different food sources. So far, all efforts have been futile and without reward. Until Now!

Dr. AGEEZ, the Head Planetary Scientist, discovered that the reproductive effect of the planets’ inhabitant was being greatly influenced by the climate change. You see, UniBreeders need a constant ambient te4mperature of at least 98.6º F in order to survive. Higher temperatures are easily tolerated, but even a slight variation of ten degrees or more lower than 98.6ºF were to occur, entire body functions can and will be affected, including decreased tolerance against disease viruses and total system failure.

For the next few months, many experimental adaptations were deployed and put into use. Mobile and portable heat generating equipment was developed by Chief Engineer VOLCHAR, with input from other members of the team, including Dr. Ageez, NOMNOK (Health and Nutrition Specialist), and other Council Members. The situation has gotten critical, and work had to be started and completed at an expeditious pace. Many died both during the construction phase as well as when the portable units were put into initial service. Adjusting the variables associated with artificial temperature output proved to be a tragically meticulous process.

Faced with a no-win dilemma of watching the population slowly cease to exist, through inability to regenerate and diminishing atmosphere, Monnoch must make some tough decisions. Another planet nearby called Earth has been identified as the ozone thief. Dr. Ageez and his staff has determined that a mixture of hydrocarbons, exhaust gases, and other human-created chemical aberrations is drawing their source of heat to the Earth. The constant erosion of the ozone layer has left them vulnerable. With constantly decreasing temperatures, surely this is the kiss of death for the UniBreeder society! The average Breeder life cycle is 125 Earth years. But time travels slowly in this galaxy, and regeneration may take place only once in what is equivalent to 25 Earth years.

Another dying world! No one to know; no one to care. Is that the way it is destined to end? Monnoch thinks these thoughts inwardly. But wait! Dr. Ageez has spoken with MINYON (Chief Transportation Officer) and they have come up with a logical solution; a great plan!!

    Or is It???

    Chapter I

    A WORLD IN CRISIS

I can’t tell you what day it is…we do not keep track of such things here. Food production is falling fast, as our primary source of nourishment is the Grubnorm Plant. Not many plants grow here. There is no wildlife as you know it. It barren everywhere, save for rocks and boulders of all sizes, and shapes. It did not use to be this way. The Grubnorm Worm", the source that makes the grubnorm plant edible to us and provides a valuable source of nutrition, is no longer in large supply. No longer do they burrow into the stalk and mulch the plant, thereby producing meaty-looking pods for our consumption. There are other things to eat, but all are dry and unpleasant to our taste. But survive we must.

Ours is a world devoid of war. There is no military, as we have no need for one. As a matter of fact, violence as know it, does not exist here. There is no need for most municipal services except for refuse pick up and medical services. NOMNOK oversees our Health and Nutrition programs is 95 Earth years old, and averages around 125-135 pounds as we all do. Nomnok has lost 2 of 3 Relopses. There is only one more attempt left for Nomnok until the time of destiny will arrive, and such future efforts shall be futile.

Most Breeders noblog (work) at the Atmosphere Remodification complex. Most Breeders live near and around the complex. It has always been that way. Our way of life is simple. We live in dwellings like what you Earth Beings call caves. There is no need for furnishings because we do not lie to sleep (sleege as the Breeder calls it), and we are unable to sit. Chairs, sofas, stools and the like are useless inventions of earth Beings. We know so much about other planets around us because we have a great capacity to gain and retain knowledge. We are creatures who live our lives reaching toward and feeding from the atmosphere. We are upright in that regard, you might say. We do spend time is suspended animation. These motionless periods can vary depending upon the amount of Crylliac (a liquefied substance we secret from glands on each side) we can produce. These glands also allow us to dispose of waste material. These secretions fill the sleege pod (a transparent liquified-filled sac we sleege in) with enough fluid necessary to provide enough protection during hibernation. Most Breeder sleege for one Earth week at a time on average.

There is a lot of talk at the main research complex as Breeders gather to noblog on this elonea (e-lo-ne-a or day). Many have become inexplicably ill, while many more have perished due to atmosphere-related problems. In the North, it is known that conditions are not suitable for continued colonization. But here there is light; an unending barrage of life-giving light! In a separate research wing, ROOZIE and POOTAK, a couple of science aides, are discussing some of the latest data collected from the molecular energy atomizer. Every being here is a relapse of another past or current Breeder. The type of noblog one will perform is pre-determined by history, there are no schools, colleges or places of higher learning. Breeders are inherently intelligent, with an innate ability to communicate through psychic means. There are no children in this society, as relopses are created full grown. The idea of conception, as Earthlings know it, is far removed from any conscious thought of our own, which created a problem for us later.

I’m detecting levels of unknow chemicals or substances entering our atmosphere, states Pootak in an excited manner. I have never seen such variation in molecular composition over such a vast area in such a short time span. Even the texture and form of the molecules are different that any I have witnessed in past eloneas. What is even stranger still, is that these increased levels are emerging in areas where we are losing our own atmosphere, Pootak concludes.

Have you identified the source?, asks Roozie.

I have a couple of suspicions but need to consult with Dr. Ageez before I can comment further or derive a specific hypothesis, Pootak adds.

A screen displaying the image of another Breeder lowers from above. There is a look of distinguished intelligence, although from visual observation, the differences are in stark contrast. Roozie begins, Dr. Ageez, have you had time to disseminate the information we have been sending you pertaining to the changing atmospheric conditions. (But before an answer could be given, the communication is interrupted by and area-wide announcement),

ALL COUNCIL MEMBERS ARE TO CONVENE FOR AN EMERGENCY MEETING IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBER AT ONCE.

Monnoch, deeply concerned about the impending deterioration of the colony, and unexplained increased mortality rate, has called an emergency meeting of the council. In attendance, is ILLONA, Chief Advisor to the Most Honorable Leader, BRONE, Chief Council Head; Nomnok, Dr. Ageez, and various other council members, each having specific responsibilities within the society. Monnoch to Illona,

Do you have any information that will serve this body in its attempt to explain and resolve our current dilemma?

I have heard things, Illona states sombly. We are awaiting critical information from science and technology that we hope will provide us with much needed information to validate our own findings.

    Meanwhile, at the Relopse Center

There is seemingly a festive mood among the inhabitants. Hundreds have reached their respective regeneration cycle; an anxious moment all have awaited. Regeneration is a delicate process, all elements must be right, all conditions must be just so. Participant begin the preparation for regeneration just about 25 Earth years prior to the actual act being consummated. But there is much to talk about this time…a nervous chatter and references to premature death fill the entire chamber.

Many did not survive the first Cycle, Ceejah states in disbelief.

How can such a thing have happened? I overheard Richeal tell someone that the food supply is grossly inadequate and is having some adverse effect on regeneration.

What do you mean?, asks Arhula. How can the food supply be inadequate? Does not the grubnorm worm molt on the grubnorm plant and develop into the very sustenance we required for daily survival? And does this does not constitute an argument for the inevitable impossibility of such an occurrence? Our knowledge and scientific capabilities are far to advance for such a catastrophe to occur, assures Arhula.

I have noticed no difference in the taste of our food supply, nor in its ability to satisfy my hunger, adds Num.

I have, spurts Ceejah. I mean I haven’t said anything, but I do not excrete when I sleege in the way I should. My glands remain moist longer, and I feel reduced sensation when approaching the time for regeneration.

I have sensed that something was different with you, states RUNYON, who is a Relopse of Illona; as Ceejah is to Runyon some 25 Earth years earlier.

Back at the Main Science Center Complex

How can this be!, exclaims Dr. Ageez to his aide Roozie. I know we had problems, but nothing of this magnitude. Not this fast! I must meet with Monnoch and the Council immediately. Dr. Ageez levitates from the room heading without delay to the Council Building.

At the Environmental Analysis Section of the Main Science Complex…

Hurry, hurry!, cries out Num. We have a Breeder down! Volchar, Clerg and others in the department rush in immediately in response.

Summon Nomnok right away!, shouts Volchar (normally Volchar would have performed this function telepathically, but even the ability to mind link had been adversely affected by the existing circumstances). Yet another frustrating tragedy! Breeders have never known sickness, illness or disease. There are no medical doctors, hospitals, or our patient clinics here. Never had a need for such things. There is no hypodermic needle,
