Prologue:
The meaning of Beyond White Superiority Syndrome (WSS) Conditioning
What is White Superiority Syndrome (WSS)? This author defines White superiority syndrome (WSS) as the internalized belief in both white and black people that white people, as a race, are smarter
and better
and more beautiful
than Black people. By better
we mean that White people are more deserving of good things happening to them than are black people. By smarter
we mean that white people are more intelligent than Black people and should therefore control the government and the society. By more beautiful
we mean that white people’s physical characteristics represent the epitome of how human beings should look, i.e. pale skin, blond straight hair, narrow nose, thin lips, etc.
What is White Superiority Syndrome (WSS) conditioning? White Superiority Syndrome (WSS) conditioning is the everyday processes by which America’s white supremacy culture indoctrinates, educates, socializes, and acculturates Americans to accept and believe that assigning higher values and more privileges, rights, and advantages to white people than to black people is good, reasonable, and healthy for America; because white people are superior to black people.
The instrumentalities and institutions involved in this White Superiority Syndrome (WSS) conditioning
or acculturation process include America’s white-controlled: political system, civic policies, police practices, judicial systems, educational goals and practices; religious orientation, news media, and entertainment institutions. These institutions and instrumentalities are key factors in the White Superiority Syndrome (WSS) conditioning whereby many Americans accept white supremacy or white racist practices as desirable or practical, good for law and order, and otherwise justified. These major WSS conditioning agencies, institutions, and instrumentalities work together to form, shape, or mold the thinking, the belief patterns, the hopes, the moral direction, and the values and aspirations of most Americans. They serve the American public: (a) in ways that favor white people over black people; (b) in ways that provide more power, prestige, privilege, and profitable opportunities to white people than to black people; (c) in ways that tell both black and white people directly and subliminally that white people are superior to black people.
Although most Americans experience WSS conditioning processes, these processes are not 100% effective and many people stave off WSS conditioning; especially if they have received intervening information, experiences, or teachings that neutralize the effectiveness of such conditioning.
What do we mean by "Beyond White Superiority Syndrome (WSS) conditioning? When we speak of
Beyond White Superiority Syndrome (WSS) conditioning," we are referring to a future era in which most White and Black Americans have overcome or neutralized today’s normal American White Superiority Syndrome conditioning processes. However, such an era will never come unless and until both white and black people develop new ways of thinking and believing about themselves (self-awareness), and about race and race relations; and then learn to work together to move America toward a humanistic cultural reality.
What do we mean by America’s racial hypocrisy? Hypocrisy means to put on a false sense of virtues, or feigning to be what one is not, or to say that you believe what one does not.
America has presented itself to the world as: (a) the land of the Free
