About the author
Rosanna Flamer-Caldera is a Sri Lankan born nature lover. Some of her favourite childhood memories are of her holidays spent in the jungle with her parents and siblings. Her love for wildlife still resonates. Elmer’s stories are her way of getting children to love and respect nature even half as much as she does.

Elmer’s Elephant Tales
Don’t worry little friend.
said Elmer, comforting the little monkey. I’ll look after you
. A bond that is formed between the most unlikely of friends is put to the test when after a promise to protect, it is the "proctectee that has to gather his wits about him and become the
protector".

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I must admit I never thought of myself as a writer and if not for the encouragement I received from Mrs. Goolbai Gunasekera, then Principal of Asian International School and an author in her own right, I would not have published Elmer’s Elephant Tales. Thanks very much Goolbai for your encouragement and guidance.
At the time of the first edition which was self-published in Sri Lanka, I had the assistance of Rhuani Rambukwelle and her artistic skills to bring to life the story of Elmer and his many adventures.
This second edition was brought to life at the urging of Kemone Brown of Tamarind Hill Publishers, a close friend who has encouraged me now to continue with Elmer’s journey and keep his adventures alive!
Lastly my sincere thanks go to Kemone, Tashana, Saun-Jaye and the team for their invaluable assistance in getting this second edition ready for publishing.

CHAPTER ONE
Magical moments! The dawn was breaking. A faint glow lit the jungle and, as if they had practiced together for a hundred years, the birds began to sing. Long trilling warbles. Songs of love that had been sung day in day out from the dawn of time. It was time to wake up and smell the freshness of another day.
