The Return, a family drama by Bruce Allsman

After a long stretch of hard work, Kim Stafford, a field scientist, is getting ready for a vacation of backpacking adventure in Borneo with her scientist friend and lover, Charles Bowers, when she receives unexpected news of an impending visit from her estranged brother, Ben. Displeased with the unwelcome intrusion into her life, she resents Ben's arrival, questioning his ulterior motive. His presence stirs up memories of her painful past about her family that she had severed ties with years ago. When Ben reveals the purpose of his visit, Kim couldn't bear the pain any longer and resorts to a dangerous course of action.
