The formative portion of my youth was spent roaming both the green spaces and strip malls of suburban Scarborough, Ontario. Having come full circle, and retired from the University of Toronto, I now live in a similar suburban environment in Gresham, Oregon. On a small section of Johnson Creek my husband and I cultivate historic Barnhaven primroses and provide sanctuary for salamanders, frogs and other wildlife that live in the woods behind our house.

    In regards to archaeological evidence that might prevent or forestall the construction of a 100-foot high Amazon drone delivery recharging station on the Gresham Butte property currently in the joint stewardship of the East Multnomah County Soil and Water Conservation District and the City of Gresham.

    We searched the area, including the proposed site and the land radiating 200 yards outward in every direction. A preliminary search was made for anomalies that might indicate structures such as burial mounds or domiciles. We dug four small test pits at locations within our purveyance.

    The only pit that indicated human occupancy could be reasonably dated to between 2018-2020. The site included
