W e come from the sky , they told me.

"From far away. From places beyond eyes can see, ears can hear, minds can comprehend. We have visited your ancestors. We have informed them and guided them. Now it is your turn.

You cannot know the universe. Can a fly know how wheat turns into bread, grapes into wine, barley into beer? An ant cannot know how a seed turns into fruit. For now, you just understand the human. That is enough for you. This is how you serve us the best."

Life is strange. Ideas can change rapidly.

An angel can become a devil.

Gregory was one of my closest friends. A dear friend. He was one of those rare people I could trust.

Both Greg and I were members of the astronomy club in Arizona. We were interested in space, extraterrestrial life, and meteorites. We used to meet every fifteen days at the club. Meetings were fun. Although Greg was half of my age, we had more topics to talk about than anyone else did. I was looking forward to the coming weekend and seeing Greg in the club. He was an honest and respectful person.

Together with the members of the club, we were spending hours in the desert searching for unusual rocks. These rocks have fallen there after their long journeys in space. We were interested in these journeys because some of us thought life on earth could have started with these meteorites. I was skeptical about that. We had different points of view about life. Anyway. We all wanted to find, touch and feel these rocks.

I was born and raised in Arizona. Greg moved here later. I remember the day I first saw him just like yesterday. Our friendship at the club soon developed into a business partnership.

Greg was born in Chicago. When he was in elementary school, his family moved to Walnut Creek, California, and then to Phoenix, Arizona. He had a sister named Janet. She was two years younger than he was. Her mother Emily was raised in Brooklyn. His father Henry was born and raised in Queens. Greg's parents were married in New York and moved to Chicago where both of their children were born.

Henry was a mechanic, working for a large automotive company. He was successful and hardworking. Emily was a homemaker. When Henry found a better position in California, the family moved to Walnut Creek, where he had worked for many years. Emily started working in her spare time at a nonprofit
