漢俳詩源起於1980年，其詩文是依中國傳統律詩創作之手法，予以精簡、演變而成之韻文詩體。
全詩共十七字，列譜成三句，以5-7-5字格式體制，輔以節奏，配以音韻，而成一具韻律之微型詩體。
詩體可分為兩種：自由體與格律體。
（一）自由體又稱散體、新詩體，以白話文寫作，似新體詩，無平仄、押韻之慮。
（二）格律體，是以文言文按平仄、含押韻所譜成，近似小令之詞牌。
押韻又可分：三句全押、首尾押、或只押後兩句。
