Chapter One
The Mystery Boy
When I returned to my bed, the awful screaming from the old woman remained. I couldn’t focus on anything else besides the screaming, and it was so loud it hurt my ears. I searched for the woman in my room, expecting her to come at me again, but I didn’t see her anywhere. I couldn’t even hear my parents’ footsteps racing towards my room, as I was sure they would be, considering the noise. Suddenly, my bedroom door flew open, and my parents ran to my bedside. It was then that I realized the screaming was coming from my own throat, and I quickly clamped my mouth shut. I was terrified.

I stared at it in shock.
I didn’t think these strange new developments in my life could surprise me any further. From seeing dead people to sinking into the underworld in my sleep to gaining a dead, deranged attacker… what more could the universe possibly do to scare me? Well, unbeknownst to me, this was only the beginning.
Back at school, I was still a zombie walking through the halls and nodding off during classes. Lindsey was growing more and more worried about me, as I was getting less and less sleep. When I did fall asleep, it wasn’t long before I was back in the underworld, readying myself for the old woman’s attacks and trying to figure out why the boy leaning against the far wall kept staring at me. I still wondered about Dave, whether his story about falling down
