Modern Punctuation and Grammar: Tools Not Rules

About this ebook
This book describes punctuation and grammar (PaG) as found in modern books. Implausibly, it's a treasure trove of useful information not found anywhere else, making it mandatory reading for serious writers.
This book includes constructs that are often discouraged and yet important and commonly used in modern writing, such as pauses, interruptions, fragments, emphasis, repetition, and disfluencies. It also includes the modern use of the basic guts of PaG, such as commas, conjunctions, and lists. It includes the modern use of exclamations, stream of consciousness, paragraphing, and long sentences. There are chapters about adverbs, passives, action scenes, and awesome moments.
This book is not about following rules; I conceptualize PaG as using tools. You should know your choices (a nearly impossible task without this book), and you should know what each technique accomplishes. I use evidence and reasoning; I give you the tools that you need to make the best decisions.

I write fiction, usually Y/A. I also write about punctuation and grammar, usually useful advice for writers but also rewriting the foundations of grammar.
