Introduction
We live in a very competitive world. Our world is full of difficulties and challenges. It is a world of battles and struggle for survival. Everyone fights their way to the top. Some fall by the way side and remain in a perpetually defeated state. Others think they are too weak to even make an attempt at success. They just sit down and lament their problems and life’s circumstances. A few others however, are able to climb to the top to achieve real success. These are the ones that the rest of the world celebrates, admires and looks up to.
It is on record that half of the world’s wealth is in the hands of just 1% of the population and that the decisions that run the world are made by a handful of great and successful people.
The question is why are these few ones able to achieve success while the rest of the world wallows in mediocrity and failure?
This book reveals the reason why that is the case.
In this book, you will learn what separates the best from the rest, the successful from the failures and the great from the mediocre. It is called Advantage. The economist calls it competitive advantage; the biologist calls it adaptation or favorable variation.
I have written in this book how to discover your advantages and build the traits that will set you up for success. It does not matter your background and life’s circumstances, you can live a successful life on earth by merely applying the principles that are in this book. There is no use complaining and grumbling about the difficulties of life, all you need is the ability to discover your advantages and leverage on them.
It is my belief that as you look at the pages of this book, you will begin to see the vast number of opportunities that are available for you to succeed.
Get started! Discover the things that give you an edge over the rest of the world, cultivate them and walk your way to the top of the ladder of success. See you at the top!

Chapter One
You Have an Advantage for Success
Ask the young man who is struggling with poverty in Africa why he is poor, he will probably give you a list of reasons; things, which he considers a disadvantage and that, are militating against his becoming rich.
Ask the mediocre and unsuccessful people of any society, be it in the civilized and well-developed nations or in the underdeveloped third world countries of Africa, why they are not successful and are living a life of mediocrity, and you would be bombarded with numerous excuses and complaints about how life has not been fair to them and how the odds of life are always against them.
Why is it so? It is because people always only see the disadvantages of life. They are only taught to recognize impossibilities and not possibilities. Though we are all surrounded by numerous opportunities in life, yet we often fail to recognize them and rather focus on the few disadvantages that we are accustomed to.
This inability to recognize opportunities and advantages in life is the reason many people are living in mediocrity and failure. In such state of mediocrity and failure, the people who think that they are victims of life’s circumstances begin to blame one thing or the other for their failures.
Some blame the fact that they were not born with a silver spoon and were raised by poor parents. Others blame their lack of parental guidance or support. Some people would say that they are disadvantaged in life because they had no one to sponsor their formal education. There are even those who think that their only disadvantage in life is their country of origin. They wish they had originated from some other well-developed and civilized countries. The lists of things that people blame for their failure in life are more numerous than I could mention in one book.
Listening to these complaints and excuses would make
