Letters On Black Page - Casanova Da'Le

    SET FREEDOM FREE

Why are you enslaved by life?

Held captive by its ups and downs,

Restraint by its smiles and frowns,

Stressed by this strife and plight.

    Generations of you reigned supreme

Back when your freedoms of speech once spoke,

But now the black cat of silence has captured your tongue

Keeping you from speaking your mind

I understand it is common to think you are free

    In this modern-day slavery

    But what have we become?

We reach from the cold to touch a distant sun (son)

    But only get darkness

Damn the oppressors that has enslaved this freedom

    This freedom of mind

    This freedom of self

    This freedom of time

    This freedom of health

    This freedom of self expression

    Damn the oppressors…

The transgressors that had freedom believing it was slavery

Had freedom thinking it was something it wasn’t

Freedom blind of the colors that shine true within itself

Displaying what its oppressor wanted it to show

And not letting its hue glow

How dare I restrain my freedoms?

    And my potential within me,

    Not setting my freedoms free.

    A STORY UNTOLD

Her brother is older than she is by two years.

After the staggering parent leaves her room late at night,

Her brother comes and wipes her tears,

He fears one day someone will find out

And then emotions will rage out,

And the family they had from the start will be torn apart.

So he keeps his teen sister quiet, hoping for better days

Even though he gets beat by a father that’s so violent,

    They remain silent.

When the parent stumbles in the room she’s awaken.

She is confused every time the intoxicating breath moistens her face,

As her innocence is taken, she can’t control the shaken.

    The thought
