Introduction

Scarlet is a high school senior. One night in a dream she meets a girl named Red who reveals that her family is from the Crimson World, a parallel world similar to Earth. In this world, the sky is red and it’s habituated by wizards, witches, demons, monsters, and vampires.

Red entrust Scarlet the quest to find the person with the blood color eye. This person will help Scarlet to protect the mortal and the Crimson World.

With the help of her friends and family, Scarlet needs to find the person with the blood colored eye. Together they will defeat the Grey Lord who controls the Crimson World and wants to take control over the mortal world. In the quest to defeat the Grey Lord and to save the Crimson World, Scarlet will find the truth about the Crimson World, the never-ending curse but most of all about the truth behind her true powers and herself. What will Scarlet do in order to end the never-ending curse and save the Crimson World from the Grey Lord?

The Voice Inside of Me

Sometimes I wonder, what is the meaning of being in this world? What’s life? Maybe there is no reason to be here. At the same time, I think there is a very important reason why I’m here. I believe that I’m not a very important person in this world because there are many things more important than my very own existence. Until now, the only things I have accomplished are little and simple that many people can do.

I’ll try to make my own path along with this power I now have.

Far in the darkness, I heard a low voice whispering,

What is your wish? What is what you want?

Without any hope, without any will, I responded, I don’t know!

The low voice said, Are you giving up?

I replied once more, I don’t know!

The voice said, You’re pathetic, are you letting your love ones die?

I opened my eyes and I started to follow the voice in the darkness.

Once again, the low voice asked, What is your desire? Tell me, what is what you want?

Walking in the darkness following this voice, I said, I, I want to save them. I want to protect them. I want to end this curse.

A hand came out from the darkness.

And with that low tone, the voice said, Come, I’ll grant you your wish. Come, use my power.

With a strange feeling that started to flow through by my body, I asked, Your power? This power of yours will end this forever?

With a low tone, the voice asked, Are you afraid?

With that strange feeling flowing through my body, this feeling that I can’t describe, I responded once more, No, I’m not afraid, it’s just that.

Then the voice said, Then come, let go all that sadness, let go all your fears and think what is your desire.

I raised my hand and held the hand from the darkness. That cold hand that gave me hope of keep fighting. With all my heart, I responded, I’m going to save them, I will end this curse forever!

With a little satisfaction, the voice said, Pain and sorrow are the only real truths in this world, only darkness will give you power, but tell me what is the power you wish for?

With determination, I replied, I’ve been hurt enough, but I’m not letting my family die even if it costs me my light. I want to get stronger, so I can protect the people I care about.

Months before…

Scarlet was an average high school student. She was not a very social person. She liked to stay home alone in her room. This might sound weird from a high school student. It almost sounded like she had no life at all.

One night something in Scarlet’s life changed, when one dream transported her into a new future, a different kind of life. It was a normal day, she cannot really complain about her everyday life as it was exactly the same routine every day, going to school all morning and then go back home. But she had no idea that this day will end up different somehow…

Scarlet woke up exactly at 1:11 a.m., then she saw a bright blue sky, a field full of flowers, trees, and a big waterfall with the bluest lake she’s ever seen before. She ran to the lake and she saw her reflection, then she thought, Why I’m alive? What I am doing in this world? Then the sky, the lake, everything turned gray and the only color was her reflection. Then she reached to touch her reflection and suddenly she was in her bed. Scarlet was very confused on what happened the night before, then she said looking at the window, What strange dream, I don’t usually remember anything I dreamt. Then she thought, This might be a good thing for a change, to wake up thinking in something, instead of waking up all in blank like a robot. But she never imagined that this was the beginning of the rest of her life.

As soon as Scarlet stepped out of her house, she looked up: the sky was cloudy, it didn’t matter because it seemed totally normal. So, she headed up to school. Once she arrived at school, the change started. Her body felt lighter and her hair felt longer, so she rushed to the restroom and she looked into the mirror. Her eyes were different, one was blue and the other purple. Her hair was red instead of brown. She was very confused. Looking at the mirror, she said, What was going on? What is this? She didn’t want anyone to see her, but she ran into her friend Nagi, and they walked to class together. She was surprised because her friend didn’t say anything about her, it seemed like she didn’t notice her appearance. Once inside the classroom, Scarlet felt so relieved because apparently, she is the only one who can see this change.

Ric approach her and said, Do you want to go have lunch after our second class?

Scarlet was a little nervous and she responded, Yeah, that’s a good idea.

Patting Scarlet’s head, Ric smiled, Okay see you at the usual spot.

After her second class, Scarlet waited for Nagi in front of her class to walk together to the cafeteria to meet up with Ric. Scarlet told her friends about her dream and about her eyes and hair. They laughed because they didn’t notice anything different. After they laughed and made fun of her, she walked around the school and laid down on the grass, in front of the student dorms. She looked at the sky and felt confused about what’s happening and suddenly someone came up to her. And said, Do you mind if I sit here? That’s some unusual eyes. Scarlet is a beautiful color, just like your long red hair.

As soon as she heard that, she sat down right away. She was very surprised, and she turned to look at this person, but she couldn’t see his face. Everything was blurry, the only thing she could see was a shadow and his glowing red and purple eyes, and he started to vanish in front of her.

Very confused, she said, Wait…I want to ask you something?

He waved his hand saying goodbye and he disappeared completely.

That night, Scarlet dreamt with the same place as the night before. She went to the lake and she saw her reflection once again. This time, her reflection looked exactly like this morning. Red hair instead of brown, blue and purple eyes instead of green.

Looking at her reflection she said, What’s going on with me? What do you do to me?

Her reflection responds, I didn’t do anything, you did it yourself.

Confused, Scarlet asked, Who are you?

Her reflection laughed and said, That’s a silly question, I’m you.

More confused, Scarlet said, "But, how? I’m right here?

What is this place? Why does my eyes and hair look different? What happened to me?"

I’m Red, I’m the Crimson princess, and you are my reincarnation. Your eyes and hair changed because you have fully awakened your powers. The powers of the Crimson family. Find the person with the blood color eye, together we will protect the Crimson World and defeat the Grey Lord, Scarlet’s reflection said with a very serious voice.

Confused and irritated, Scarlet responded, The Crimson powers? Crimson World? Grey Lord? a person with a blood color eye? explain at once!

I already told you, there is not much to explain. You already know about the magic in you, Red responded with a smile.

More confused than before, Scarlet asked, The magic in me? What does the Grey Lord, the person with the blood color eye have to do with me?

After saying those words, Scarlet woke up. Once again, she was able to remember what she dreamt, but she had the feeling that that is not just a dream. This time she wasn’t feeling well to go to school, so she decided to stay home. Whenever she tried to walk, she started to float. Whenever she tried to touch something, it broke. This power was hard to control. She couldn’t control her gravity anymore, so she decided to stay in her room all day. She was always alone in her home. Her big house was just empty as her parents and her brother were always busy. But doesn’t matter how busy they were, they always ate dinner together.

It’s almost time for dinner and her brother went to her room to see her.

Hey sis I heard that you are not feeling well? Scarlet’s brother asked.

With a smile, Scarlet responded, I just feel a little weak.

You look a little pale. I think you need to eat. Today we’re having your favorite dessert, said Scarlet’s brother, walking toward her.

With a sad voice, she responded, Yes, that is a shame but I’m not that hungry, Kenny. I can’t really walk.

That’s no problem at all. Come on, I’ll carry you to the dining room.

Ken picked her up and he carried her to the dining room. While they were heading down the stairs, Kenny said, Are you eating properly? You are very light.

Scarlet was very surprised that her brother was able to carry her and didn’t get hurt by her.

It was very hard to eat dinner because she kept on dropping and breaking everything she touched. At the end, her mom ended up feeding her and her dad taking her to her room. She felt very happy because for the first time in a long time, it felt like they were a loving family. This feeling really made her happy, but more importantly, her family didn’t get hurt because of her unusual power, a power that she can’t understand. It’s been three days having this appearance, and the second day she skipped school. It was really hard to control this power. Every time she touched something, it broke, and she wasn’t able to walk.

It was late and she went to sleep, then without realizing once more she dreamed with that strange place. She went to the lake and called out Red.

Scarlet started to shout, Explain me, why me? Why this destroying power?

With a serious voice, Red said, Well, you have those powers for a reason, now it’s time for you to save the Crimson World.

Very Irritated and annoyed, Scarlet said, "Is this some kind of joke? It can’t be? I can’t, I can’t
