How to Live Effectively on Earth - Vusimuzi Moses
INTRODUCTION
The village
Once upon a time there was a very lovely young girl living in a very small village. This was one of the poorest places to live in. The conditions were unfavourable. The whole thing was just hopeless.
Everyone living in the small village was living life as it comes. Nothing could come out of the small village. Nothing was expected. The people of the village had already made peace with the whole situation.
Every talk of the day was now about how each could eat and die. It was just as hopeless I tell you. There was no trace of something good coming out of the situation. It was just as bad.
No light at the end of the tunnel? You could bet. No smell of any form of change on the horizon? You reckon.
When something good is about to happen, there are signs all over but here, nothing, zero. Nothing good seemed to materialise out of the situation. It was dark.
When its winter, we know that summer is around the corner. When it’s at night, we know one thing for sure that daylight is coming but here in the village, none of the sort transpired. It was just hopeless.
What was to happen? What could prevail? Because wow. It was a life of wake up, eat and sleep with the hope of dying anytime soon.
The people could not wait for the night to come so they may see themselves sleeping. They had no plans anyway. Waking up, eating and complaining was the order of the day, by all means necessary.
The young girl
Like any other horrible situation, this started troubling this other young girl in the very same village. She started being angry about the whole situation of the village.
She shared her worries with her parents and they told her it is what it is. Nothing could be done. You are just a kid
, so they said. She thought to herself, yes, I am just a kid anyway, and after all, what do I even know? She talked to herself. She talked herself out of everything.
Here is what was so strange; her worries could not go away. All the thoughts about the situation at the village could not go away. This troubled her so very much. She could now not be able to sleep at night.
It was a horrible situation altogether. When she closed her eyes, the worries could not go away. Was it a nightmare? You could say so.
The visit to the king
One day she presented herself to the king about the matter. The king marvelled about such a concern and most especially from such a young child. This really marvelled the king and the king decided to ponder and think about the whole situation.
Because of the many functions of the king, he could not get back to her. The king planned to get back to her but it could not just happen. He did not get back to her.
She was disappointed. She was devastated. Even the king could not take me seriously
, so she thought. Let me just forget about the whole thing
, she said to herself.
Upon retiring at night to sleep the worries could not go away and now it was worse. It was now intense. It was now deep and thick.
The prayer
As the last resort, she said to herself, let me pray about the whole situation. The idea to pray came because of the religion that used to take place in her school. She suddenly remembered about the teachings of how prayer works.
This is the reason why she prayed. Wow, the big sister was now growing. She was now praying on her own? Thanks to the religion teacher at the school.
One day as she was playing with her friends at the streets of the village, there was an announcement about the coming of one of the prominent leaders from the city.
The leader was coming to speak to the whole village at once because he was in a hurry to be somewhere.
Someone knew the entire situation of the village and arranged the meeting with the king for the speaker to come and speak with the people of the village. The king agreed and the leader came.
Beacon of hope
The leader spoke about the possibilities. He even spoke about what’s possible. Some were excited about the talk, some were sceptical and some just could just not care. The leader spoke anyway.
Some thought the leader was lying and he was making things up. Some started shaking their heads with disbelief. Who could blame them? They have not been exposed to such talks before. All they knew was to eat, play and sleep.
The girl took the talk seriously. She even thought this was just meant for her. She took everything in. she thought finally the answer has come.
She finally thought she was the one to stop and solve whatever that was happening in the village.
Her father’s daughter
Mind you, the girl was the favourite child of her father because she came right after the first born child who died the previous year. The parents cherished her so very much as they thought this could their last chance at parenting.
The girl was special to them. They loved her. Now she kept everything to herself. She started being secretive about everything. She started spending time alone. Everything was starting to make sense.
There was a little light. Everything was starting to make sense now. Things were now unfolding. Things were now starting to align? Was it for the good? Let’s find out.
One day something erupted within her, a little spark. She got excited. She was delighted. She was overwhelmed. What was happening?
The discovery
She felt like what she was seeking was also seeking her as well. What she was looking for was also looking for her as well. She said to herself, I am the one
.
The more she spent time alone in the bushes, the more things were unfolding right before her very eyes. She kept quiet about everything.
I could be damned if I let this thing slip up
, so she thought and said to herself. Finally she found herself. She understood why she had to care about the village situation more than anyone else in the village.
Finally she acted on her convictions and changed the entire course of the village.
The shock
Everyone was amazed. Nobody knew this version of her, including her parents. They were excited and so is everyone at the village.
The People at the village did not know how to feel. They were happy. They were surprised. She was the hero of the village.
In this journey we are about to take, you will find out exactly what the young girl did to be the agent of change and change
