    Section 1: Am I Wrong?

Iso wish thy were still in this realm. The centuries die so quickly, I continue beyond the vale. Thy rests always within me, beyond this Contumelious world. Thy were never respected, as the Cumberworlds of now show to me.

    Part I: Guilty of Arrogance

Iwake up and I think I’m in some hole in the ground. Getting my bearings, standing back onto my two feet, the hole is Circular but, it is definitely deep, and seems to be getting deeper by the second. I try to climb out, digging my fingers into the dirt, but my hands start to ache, and are getting more and more sore, with every second.

It is like they are on fire, it feels like my skin burning off my bones. I am almost out, but the pain is too much. I can barely feel my hands, like they are completely numb. I lose my grip and I fall back to the bottom of this Pit. My hands are still numb and tingling as I stand back up in the bottom of this hole.

Then I realise, what Pit I am stuck in. This is the Pit, where the dead bodies of my Queen’s desire, are discarded, to be burnt, to leave no evidence. I turn around and I see two bodies.

The one I threw in this pit and incinerated, last week, on behalf of my queen. She fed on her, and I watched, as she died. Her bright blue hair still looks pristine, but with only a charred skeleton surviving beneath it.

Next to her, is the man of yesterday, the burglar. The man who dared to hold my Queen at knifepoint. So, I broke him and we fed on him, together. His scars, his fatal wounds remain, with his drained corpse, left in this Pit. But, I didn’t put him, down here. Then again, what am I doing down here? I begin to think of why, and my mind races.

    Are you comfortable my Knight?

I look up and see, my Queen, standing above, on the edge of the Pit itself. She is in her fully gothic attire, black lace, black boots and her long black gown.

My Queen, what is going on?

I have changed my mind. I don’t need anyone, to get in my way. To put my life in jeopardy. So, I have decided, that you always belonged with your own kind.

My Queen, I would never put you in a jeopardy. Please, I will do whatever you want me to. Just don’t leave me in here.

    Beg, to me.

My Queen, please! I will do anything, I will bring you a mortal to feed on, every day. I will do everything you want. Please, please I love you, Autumn, my glorious Queen. Please!

Oh, my Knight. I finally understand you. I can now see you, the real you. It is just a shame, that you disgust me. Begging to me because you love me? To promise to kill and murder, for love? Monsters don’t love each other, they respect one another, or despise them. If you despise a monster, then you have to destroy them. So, goodbye, my mistake.

    No, my Queen. Please! Please!

    My Knight?! Wake up!

I open my eyes and I am back in the darkness. No Sun rising from over the horizon or flickering flames. Then I can feel, fingers, sliding across my cheek, and then I realise where I am and who is touching my face.

    Are you ok, my Knight?

Yes, my Queen. I was just, having a nightmare. No need to worry.

What was it about my Knight?

I don’t really want to tell her that it was about her basically leaving me to die. She might be offended that I could have such a dream, about her. Although, I don’t want to lie to her either.

I was in the pit, outside this house, and I saw, some bodies and I couldn’t get out.

    Where was I, your Queen?

You were, outside of the pit.

Hmm, well at least in real life, you know that you could climb out quite easily, with that new strength and agility you have gained in the last week.

I suppose you are right my Queen. It just felt real, whilst I was inside my dream. It is like my hands are only just regaining feeling now. I am happy to be back in reality. Especially, feeling, hearing and seeing you.

By running my hand across her body, I realise that she is still completely naked, and so am I.

Well, I am glad about that, my Knight. I would hate for you to awake with regrets of last night.

NO! I definitely, don’t have any regrets. I think last night was my favourite night ever, thanks to you my Queen.

There is no need to thank me. It was my favourite night, ever, too.

I can feel her moving herself up the casket. With her hand, she moves my head to face her, and kisses me on the lips. I reciprocate. I pull her close, cradling her in my arms.

Hey, don’t get too excited, my Knight. We haven’t got time for this right now.

Why not, you are just too irresistible.

I know, but we can have some more, fun, later, if I feel like it. The night is young and I would like to actually enjoy the darkness and the world outside of this coffin, before anything gets, too fun.

With that, my fun disappears, as the light from outside, starts to fill the casket as the lid swings open. Although, being able to see the full beauty of my Queen is not a bad sight to see on a Saturday evening.

    Stop staring.

I can’t, you are just too beautiful, my glorious Queen!

Well, lets put some clothes on, and then you might not get so excited, so easily.

She leaps out of the casket and I watch her casually walk out of the door and to her wardrobe room. Obviously teasing me, as I enjoy the view. Now that she is gone, it is a little weird to be laying here, completely naked. But it gives me a chance to see myself, in a little more detail and it is almost like I am dreaming now.

I was not a healthy person before, the word big or even obese could apply to me. Now, I actually see muscle and bone, beneath my skin and my skin even seems to be smooth, and perfectly formed. How is this even possible? Being a vampire really does have its perks but my Queen is still the best part of this new life, or death.

I get out of the casket, and I decide to go downstairs and get changed into some of my new clothes, that my Queen bought me last week. I have to admit, I wasn’t that keen at first, on all of her selections but, they are starting to grow on me.

In more ways than one. But, I am going through them all quite quickly and I suppose I will have to clean them eventually. That is a chore that I am sure will appear on my list in the future. Great.

I put on a black shirt and black trousers and go back upstairs to see my Queen again. As I climb the stairs, I am almost anxious, and I don’t know why. I only saw her a few minutes ago, yet I am nervous.

Every creak, of the floorboards on the stairs, gives me chills, and my hairs are tingling on the back of my neck. My whole body feels tense, I almost doubt the fact that I should enter her wardrobe room.

I knock on the door, and I hear her say, Come in, which immediately removes all my tension and I walk in and see her smile.

She is wearing a long, black gothic dress, down to her knees, with her going barefoot again. It reminds me of how she looked in my dream, or nightmare.

    Are you alright my Queen?

Yes, I just saw you a few minutes ago. You don’t need to be worried about me every minute of every day.

I know, I just like to make sure you are happy.

Well, being happy and being ok, are two different things, aren’t they my Knight?

Ok, are you happy my glorious Queen?

Yes, my Knight, she says as she walks toward me, Are you happy my Knight?

Of course, my Queen. Just seeing you happy, brings me happiness.

    Really, how intriguing.

I wonder what she means by intriguing but, she doesn’t explain. Instead, she just walks past me and out of the room. She turns around to look at me and I just feel a sense of duty to bow to her, so I drop to one knee and hold out my hand.

What is my bidding, my Queen?

There is a long pause of silence, but I don’t dare look at her.

I want you, my Knight, to be by my side, and we will see what challenges reality has for us this evening.

She lifts me up from my knee and puts me back on my feet with ease. I sometimes forget just how strong she is. Despite the fact I feel stronger and faster than ever before, I think she could still bring my nightmare to reality, if she wished. I love my Queen, but I am still a weakling next to her. Maybe I always will be.

Part II: The Truth of History Hurts

She walks down the stairs almost gracefully, and I follow her, keeping to her request. She walks toward the kitchen and I see the body on the top of kitchen cupboard. It is a little surprising but, I suppose the warm feeling inside of me, had to come from somewhere.

I forgot that she had drained him through the heart, the blood bag, larger than any blood bag I have ever seen before, is almost full with his remaining blood.

You see, my precious Knight, if you insert a drain, through the dead’s heart, you can collect the remaining blood, that we cannot reach with our fangs.

So, you can drink the blood, of a dead man, or woman?

Yes, my Knight. You did. That was the first taste of blood you had, was from a blood bag. Remember.

Yes, I remember. I thought that was like a donation, to a blood bank or something.

No, it was from a former, guest of mine. Technically it wasn’t your first taste of blood, since you first fed, on my blood.

What?! When did I, feed on your blood?

How do you think you turn somebody into a vampire?

I don’t know. I suppose you take my blood, and then I take yours???

Bingo. Now you know the basics of how to make a monster like me.

    Really? How did it work?

I drained your blood, and before you died, I gave you my precious blood, to save you. My blood is very special, just a single drop in the wrong hands could change the mortal world forever. Yet, I gave you life, at the edge of death, with this small cut on my arm. You drank my blood and, here you are today, my Knight.

I am a little surprised and yet not at all. I thought it might have been a little more complicated but, it makes sense I guess. Scientifically, I guess Vampiric blood infects the body and that is why I slowly transformed, as the infection took over my mortal body. I suppose it still, is being infected by my Queen.

What are you thinking about, my Knight?

Oh, I was just thinking about the science behind Vampiric blood.

Okay? Now, I trust you my Knight, with this very important information. I don’t want to remind you why changing people into monsters, is not a good idea. Not to mention the physical strain, of a vampire giving their own blood away...

I know my Queen. Like you said, just a few days ago, it is not a good idea. I will not be changing anybody into a vampire like us, unless you want me to, my Queen. You have the wisdom, I do not have at the moment.

What happens if I am not there, by your side, when such a moment arises?

I will not quench my thirst, unless you are there with me, my Queen. My priority is to make sure you are happy, before myself.

Ok, my Knight. Thank you but, just make me a little promise.

    What little promise.

Promise me, that if anything happens to me, or we get separated, for any reason, that you will keep on surviving, and being my Knight, a monster of the mortal night, even if I am not there, by your side.

I look at her, and whilst she softly speaks the words that start to haunt me, I see a sadness, within her. Her sincerity shows me that this is no joke, but I don’t want to lose her from my side.

I promise you, my Queen. But why would you, disappear or worse?

"I can’t see the future, but I want you to succeed no matter
