She left a trail of glitter and salty water in her wake,

She smelled like coconut.

Coils and coils stretched,

Sunflowers reaching out for Momma;

O black sheep, black child,

Where do you call home?

Is it on Daddy’s back,

Piggyback rides where the world seemed

Like it was a million feet below?

Is it in the bosom of your anger,

The white heat that scorches,

Torches anyone who gets too close?

She smelled like coconut and acrimony,

A deep, pungent smell that pierces nostrils

And shouts I am here, and I am bitter.
