As royal visits go, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall’s three-day trip to Devon and Cornwall could hardly have been better timed.

The royal couple’s annual summer visit to the south-west coincided with the heatwave, providing them with plenty of opportunities for beach time and sun-drenched walkabouts.

Indeed, they kicked off their trip with an impromptu chat to some of the 100 people who turned out to see them at Exeter Cathedral as most lockdown restrictions were lifted in England.
