About this ebook

27 stories written during Flash Fiction Month 2016, daily one-word prompts and challenge descriptions that are too long to be included in full on the same page as the story.

Within these covers, you'll find those things and more than enough reasons to read challenge descriptions with more meticulousness than I did back in July 2016.

The Person At The Door - N. WS. Jokela

    Introduction

Hi there! I'm glad you are here!

The 27 stories included in this collection were written in July 2016 during Flash Fiction Month 2016, which was the second time I took part in the event. Five of the total of 32 stories that I wrote back then had to be left out because they are fanfiction, but I'm sure that what remains of the array of stories are more than enough to make up for their absence.

For FFM 2016, I challenged myself to use the day's one-word prompt each day in my story. I was successful in this challenge all the while I decreased the number of fanfiction pieces written during the month drastically.

Good reading! I hope you enjoy my second notable step into becoming a better writer but if you don't, I hope you'll give my newer and better stories a chance when their collections come out.

    1.1: What a vagary

    One-word prompt: vagary.

Challenge from J2571: Dungeons and Drag Queens.

Who would have guessed that a drag queen, let alone three of them, would end up imprisoned in the main dungeon for speeding? Well, not me, but so one of the drag queens, Matt, told me after he had been thrown into the same cell as me while his buddies were taken to the next dungeon. And I was imprisoned for murdering the king! When I saw them being dragged here, I expected to hear about committing adultery or posing as a female nobility. But no, they had speeded a little bit and got caught by the royal police.

Sure, I am certain that the way they dressed has been part of what caused their harsh conviction to be this bad, but all in all, this is quite a vagary. If even speeding can get one here, then I guess it's better that I give up my escape plans and stay here.

After all, the food ain't that bad...

    1.2: Doom

Multiple challenges: Fairy circles + firepower from Oreramar, Damascus Steel + High Heels from joe-wright, vampires in the stone age from squanpie, glowsticks, rain, and include some dialogue from TheSkaBoss.

What's our team's situation? asked Leader Alpha.

The locals can't help us and the bloody vampires are advancing, answered Leader Beta.
