About this ebook

There is healing in reading and applying the Word of God. The scriptures are full of promises to heal any kind of affliction. In this book I share my own testimonies. I talk about how God healed from a prolonged illness. I wrote this book from a grieving heart, after four of my siblings died in two years from HIV-Aids related illnesses. God wants to heal; He is ready to heal. Let's turn to Him. Its never too late with God. Even in death, He is still our healer, for He will take us home to Himself. We have a whole eternity to spend with Him.

    Dedication

This book is dedicated to my parents Sylvester and Alicia, who as a child faithfully took me to Church. I thank them dearly for my Christian heritage.

    Acknowledgements

These go to my sons, Rodwell Tendai and Winston SimbaraShe, who have been supportive, encouraging and helped me to produce this book.

I am also honored to be a member of a church that is led by God-fearing men and women and by whose counsel and teaching I am the woman God ordained to be.

A heartfelt thanks goes to special friends, colleagues who have listened, cared and prayed while the Spirit was birthing this book in me. Neither of us was even aware of what was happening.

Above all, I give glory to God, to His Spirit, for keeping me awake during the silence of the nights so that I could focus and write.

To God be praise and glory. Amen!

    Preface

Life is a journey, which is full of many discoveries, some good, some not so good. In the journey, we encounter joy, sorrow, pain and suffering. But above all, the best encounter is in meeting the God of the universe, the God who holds everything in the palm of His hands, the God who is always in control. This is the same God who created us and knows us intimately (Psalm 139 verses 13 –16).

I believe that there are lots of people who have sat pondering helplessly over the pain and suffering that they have been going through. I have been there many a times and this book is there to point you to the God who sees your anguish, especially when the despair is centered on ill health. God desires to come alongside you, walk with you and if need be carry you.

I read a story once, of a parent who over a couple of weeks lost three of his children to a mysterious disease. One after the other the children would succumb to a high fever leading to sudden death within a couple of hours. The hospitals were at a loss to the identity of the malady.

Not far from the homestead was a river, and soon one of the shallower ends became a favorite spot for this parent. He would walk to the spot every evening and sit there till late in the night. Neighbors became worried and started to spy on him. Some were beginning to suspect him of evil practices.

Just as unannounced as the deaths had come so did they cease. One day a neighbor drew up courage to ask this man why he still kept the odd hours at the river even after the deaths had ceased. The man confessed that in the course of his pain God has sent him a special friend. He could only meet with this friend by the river. There, he would sit for hours on end talking to his friend. The friend was a great listener.

More curious than before the neighbor queried whether the friend was male or female. To this he replied, I have never seen him, or heard his voice. I just know that he is there with me, which is all I need. He gives me the strength I need.

In our African culture, professional counseling services are a luxury most of us cannot afford. Hence, most times when in grief and pain we sit crying alone till we muster enough strength to pick up the pieces of our lives and learn to walk again. My prayer is that through this book, you will discover in a new way, the Friend who will always be there for you no matter what challenges you are facing. He is also the God who will open for you ways to triumph over evil. Praise be to Him.
