    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

I would like to give out thanks to the world, the readers, the writers, and even the teachers. Thank you, for allowing not only students, but even adults, and the elderly everywhere to learn, to live, and to experience the thrills and the magic of life. I would also like to give out thanks to my friends, each and every one of them: Thank you. I am indeed extremely lucky to have such friends as all of you to stand by my side and support me through all of my stages of writing. So, Nick, Emma, Molly, Bridget, Reagan, Will, and Martin, Thanks.

I would also like to thank the world, along with my publisher, for allowing me such an opportunity to publish this book. My dream to be an author has always remained, and I am astounded (and quite delighted) to see that my perseverance (and stubbornness) has proved worthy and allowed my dream to come true.

And, thanks finally to the creators of the earth and mankind. Thanks goes to you for allowing us human beings to have such sophisticated minds and thought processes, and making the world the way it is today.

    Prologue

The stars. The wondrous stars. They fill the sky with all their beauty, their wondrous curiosity, the feeling of happiness that settles over one as he stares in awe at the lights from above. On this particular night, an elf, sitting high upon the trunk of the elmore tree that he has claimed as his home, is one of those gleeful viewers of the night sky. However, he has a much different purpose from the average stargazer.

Is it time then? the aged elf mutters, standing from his post and beginning to make his descent down the staircase leading to his main quarters. His home - one of the many in the Forests’ of Agberdon - is built into the decrepit yet beautiful elmore tree he had claimed at a younger age. The tree clearly shows its age, the bark a dull gray color, his quarters intricately carved to encompass the natural beauty and liveliness of the elmore. As he reaches the end of the smooth staircase – carved elegantly into the side of the elmore in which he has lived in for centuries – he brushes aside the cobwebs that clearly show the centuries of waiting this old elf has undergone.

It’s been that long? He mutters, grasping the aged doorknob and entering his living quarters, everything seeming to have attained a thick film of forest dust. He spares a quick glance around the small room, seeing his cot, neatly folded, not a speck of dust to be seen upon its silky surface. There is also his desk, along with his telescope, a gift from his lover at a young age.

Yes, yes, it is time, The prophet says, moving towards the desk and pulling out a deep colored scroll, where he then nicks his finger, allowing the blood to pool in an ink container. He grabs a feather – a deep, sharp piece of metal attached to the end, a device that allows the feather to work like a writing instrument – and dips it rapidly into his own blood. After satisfied with the coating of crimson liquid, he sets it to the papyrus and begins to write out the prophecy, one that will shape the world for centuries to come.

Ah, He says, his work finally coming to an end as he sets the feather to the desk. He then glances down at his work once more before looking through the thin pane of glass set into the ceiling of his quarters. I am coming, my love.

With that, the Prophet’s body begins to disintegrate, his body shifting into a pile of dull-colored sand, soon blown away by the light wind that makes its’s way through the elf’s open window. The prophecy, of which the old elf has finished with his last breath, marks itself upon many a stone, making the prophecy clear in many places of the Lands of Albanisia. Looking upon the scroll, one can see the foretelling of the future, the mild guess that will change the way history makes itself for many centuries to come. For, upon the scroll, is the prophecy of the Age of the Magi.
