About this ebook

Millions of people, children and adults suffer from depression. It does not matter if you’re young or old; female or male. It does not apply to specific countries nor races.

The invisibility of this illness makes it ever so deadly. It is highly undetected and wildly misunderstood due to the inability of sufferers to fully explain and describe what they go through.

People reject and fight the Big D, they try to lead a normal life and integrate into the fabrics of society. They wear a mask of smile in public and with friends, family. Yet when in solitude, the unbearable and prolonged period of sadness floods the mind and it is uncontrollable.

The Facebook Suicides is a labyrinth of reality blurred with fantasy; it seeks to raise awareness of a real society issue in a whimsical and ironic tone.

    Author’s Foreword

Millions of people, children and adults suffer from depression. It does not matter if you’re young or old; female or male. It does not apply to specific countries nor races.

The invisibility of this illness makes it ever so deadly. It is highly undetected and wildly misunderstood due to the inability of sufferers to fully explain and describe what they go through.

People reject and fight the Big D, they try to lead a normal life and integrate into the fabrics of society. They wear a mask of smile in public and with friends, family.

Yet when in solitude, the unbearable and prolonged period of sadness floods the mind and it is uncontrollable.

It has been the intention of the author to leave no picture images on the cover of this book, in bid to try and capture the core essential of this read.

Millions are in a difficult moment, neither because of their character nor intentions. It should be acknowledged as an illness first before we can fight it.

Never judge a book by its cover.

    Chapter 1: Depression

Over one million people die by suicide worldwide each year.

That makes the global suicide rate at 16 per 100,000 population.

On average, one person dies by suicide every 40 seconds somewhere in the world.*

You could change your Facebook profile. Twice. In 40 seconds.

You could stop smoking, 40 seconds at a time.

You could tell someone I love you and meant it, in 40 seconds.

Yet, I did not do any of the three.

And he was gone in 40 seconds.
