    Chapter 1

    The man continues

After the brutal fight that took place at the Necropolish. The fear in people’s mind of Eric will not cease to be. For Eric isn’t a man, but an idea, something you can’t touch, see or hear. Let another one try the seat of fear, a citizen of fear, coming through the door of death.

Talon enters Tanja’s office in a hurry after hearing she has returned from the parade, the doors’ slamming causes Tanja to startle.

    Tanja: AH… TALON!

Talon: Sorry. I was in a hurry, but back to the point. Who is Citizen? Tanja takes a moment, thinking what to say, then stands up from her chairs and starts walking towards Talon.

So you heard. Ah I shouldn’t be surprised. The news spreads fast around here. There is already talk of me and Citizen maybe working together to achieve the same goal.

    Are you?

    Are I what?

Working with Citizen? As much as I’ve heard, he’s a very dangerous man.

Citizen was always special in the land of the free minded. His philosophy was that a free world would lead to enslavement. That human greed would make us less equal. The very thing we fear. It’s what the Necromongers are to humans right now. But soon, that could all very likely change.

So what do you want me to do with him? Greet or kill him?

I want you to find him! Bring who you want with you and travel around wherever you please, just find him, (calmly) and talk to him. I’m sure you will get an idea what he would be to me. Tanja goes to sit back down on her chair. Talon salutes her and leaves the office like a true Necromonger soldier.

However, on his way out, he finds Sarah waiting for him, his illustrious new lover.

Why are you here? Talon asks while walking away, with her following him. It’s not safe for you to move around alone.

I understand. You mean to go meet Citizen to find out for yourself what he’s like, a new objective in life.

My objective is to kill Eric, and nothing more. Markus has only a few hours to return before Tanja declares him an enemy as well.

And you would be okay with that? Sarah struggles to catch up to Talon, so she runs faster.

I would. It’s not my place to question orders.

Stop and look at me! Talon stops walking and slowly turns to her. He sees whatever he’s doing is already wrong, and makes him lose confidence already.

Talon with a uncertainty is his voice: Just tell me what you think then. What am I doing wrong? Talon waits for an answer from her.

You need to focus on one thing at a time. Deal with Eric, then Markus, then Citizen. Help me find Eric!

Mhh… you’re the less hot headed one. Alright, how do we do that?

Since I am a vampire and Eric is my master vampire. I should have a feeling where he is. But, after he became the Lord of Darkness that connection was severed. I need to reestablish that connection. I know a man. His name is Vlad. And he happens to be Eric’s vampire master. He is the Lord of all vampires.

Talon becomes intrigued by her words. You want to go see the Lord of Vampires."

I’m damn sure he knows how we can track Eric permanently with using the bond that we share.

I don’t know. The lord of vampires could be dangerous. Maybe I should go alone and ask him if it’s possible.

No. This is mine to do as much as it’s yours. Besides, you might need the protection since you’re not a vampire like me. Talon looks to the side and chuckles, but agrees with her.

    Alright. Then let’s go!

    -

    In Alcatraz

Citizen: How much for this fruit? Citizen is in the market for some food. He still runs on a superhuman body, even though he is the next Lord of Death. The city of Alcatraz is huge and so are the crowds.

    Clerk: 6, 50 denarii.

You are kidding me? For that the fruit to appear in hell, one must first bring it there.

    What?

… The fruit, it doesn’t grow here. So that’s why it’s expensive right? The shipping takes the cost. The clerk takes a moment of silence before answering.

What? Citizen becomes annoyed and just puts the fruit back. He marches on to find some better clothes, which shouldn’t be too hard in Alcatraz.

God I hate this place. Says Citizen as he tries to get through a crowd. He finally finds something worth looking at, the great castle in the middle of the city, which is actually in the west of the city center. It holds the current king, The Beggar King. The city itself is 3200 km2 big. Housing over 1,7 Billion people above- and underground.

Citizen hails the sight with open arms: For me to descend, I must first rise to become king, if I’m not already more. Citizen walks towards the royal palace in a fast manner, dodging everyone.

Suddenly a man gets stabbed in the street and his backpack gets stolen by thieves. Other people quickly go to grab other valuables he might have at first notice. And so does Citizen.

Citizen quickly grabs a white tunic from the body, yet that’s all he could grab. The rest is going to the beggars.

Citizen: What have I become to deserve this luxury? God, I hate this fucking plaaaaace! Citizen takes the towel around his waist and wraps it around his head as a shemagh. He looks at the bloodstain on his tunic from the previous victims stab and tries to clean it before putting it on.

Citizen becomes mad and has enough of this crowd. He jumps high towards the skies and falls onto a roof of a building. A fresh breeze goes through him, and he calms down.

He looks at the city, seeing it’s too crowded and deciding to jump over the rooftops to get to his destination.

    -

Meanwhile Fellar, one of Eric’s friends

Fellar: He’s not my friend! Fellar is in an interrogation room with a very angry policeman.

Officer: You worked with him for over a month! I would guess you did it for money, for power, for pleasure, but no, you did it because he’s your friend. Now tell me the names of his victims!

I didn’t ask. And there’s no evidence of them.

So… some cases are to remain open forever because we can’t find out who Eric killed, and what about who you’ve killed?

    I ain’t saying anything.

(Sighs) The officer walks over to a soldier and pats him on the shoulder. The soldier goes and starts taking Fellar away to his cell.

The officer speaks one last time before leaving the room: I hope you’ll enjoy APEX. But in the meantime, enjoy our local cells.

Fellar disapproves of the judgement that has been given, but doesn’t fight back. Fellar drops his hat, exposing his face.

Fellar: NO. I want that hat. Give it back to me!

    Soldier: No.

The soldier, who is much stronger than Fellar takes him to a cell, a cell which happens to be just across the cell of a kind man, General Erwin.

Fellar recognizes him and goes towards the cell door. General Erwin.

Erwin becomes surprised: … ….Aston Fellar.

    -

Meanwhile Citizen goes to the steps of the Palace where the public line ends. Anyone passing that line will be shot and killed. So Citizen makes the first step.

Soldier: Stop right there! You are under arrest. Come with us quietly and surrender or you will be shot! Other soldier come with their guns aimed at Citizen.

The environment becomes tense. Any movement from either side will result in one side dying.

Citizen: I’ve come to speak to the Beggar King! Citizen gets shot in the shoulder, and then the rest open fire on him, shooting him a few times to kill him.

Soldier: Well that’s that. Let’s get back to our post. The soldiers start walking back, when all of a sudden they feel their necks stiff, and something big casting a shadow behind them.

Citizen shows the true power of the Lord of Death and makes an evil looking figure that grows in size. People panic and run away in fear, yet the soldiers aim their guns and spray fire.

Citizen draws his scythe from one hand and pulls the strings with the other. They become like puppets, tangling from a noose, choking to death in the air.

Citizen with a demonic voice: The life of the dead is placed in the memory of the living. Yet, I’ve already forgotten you. The soldiers die and hang in the air, even without Citizen pulling on them anymore.

The crowd has ran away, although it’s seen as few brave ones, or desperate ones, try to go forward and get the possessions of the dead soldiers. Citizen hates that idea of human greed and swings his scythe, killing the beggars, even if he didn’t hit all of them.

Citizen turns back to normal and starts walking up the steps, but not before grabbing the pants and boots of a dead soldier, then taking his shirt.

Citizen: Theft is punished by the law, but who punishes the law, but me.

A blue shirt with black pants and boots looks great on him. He snaps his fingers and the clothes turn white from blue. Citizen looks at a handgun on the ground and grabs it. Afterwards he has his eyes set on the palace.

Soldiers from every corner come out to shoot at Citizen as he walks the steps, pieces of Citizen fly off as he tries to shoot back with his handgun. The gun runs out bullets, but Citizen doesn’t care.

    Soldier: Die dog!

Citizen: I came with peace, but you boys don’t understand the… Ah. Citizen got shot in the mouth, and a chunk of his jaw falls off.

Citizen gurgling on his own blood: Filthy bastards… The soldiers come with an RPG and fire the projectile, blowing Citizen into pieces. All of them have a smile on their face as they claim victory and high five each other.

Soldier: And that’s how you kill a beggar, boys.

But as the flames settle and Citizen reappears, all that’s remains of him is his skeleton, which is quickly covered by the Crim Reapers Cloak.

Citizen: Hear me filthy bastards, for I am the Lord of your demise. Let us all pray one last time… as I pull away your lives.

Citizen pulls invisible strings and the soldiers are pulled up by their necks, some crack right away, some stay in the air longer and struggle.

Beggar King yells: Stop! Citizen looks to see the begging king on his knees. The soldiers fall down onto the ground, some alive. They quickly try to breathe and struggle to run away, leaving their king behind.

Citizen: And so the king came to see the plebs… Citizen’s face has reassembled itself and he looks his old self again, wearing a black cloak. I guess this cloak will do for clothing, for times similar to these.

I came to see you so you could stop this bloodshed of innocents. What have you come for?

Well I came to claim the city mine. That means killing you. The Beggar King starts walking down the steps towards Citizen.

You want this dump of a city? Why ever so?

This city is in a good geopolitical spot, a lot of trade comes through here from China, and it’s a country the Necromongers want.

Do you know how many demons are in Alcatraz, never mind that, do you know how many citizens it has compared to soldiers, 5000 to 1. You can’t control this city by yourself, even if you had some soldiers…

Enough!  I didn’t come to argue with you. The king must die so the country may live! Citizen pulls his hand from the air and squeezes his fist. A rope appears over the Beggar Kings neck and he starts choking, even though he’s not hanging in the air.

Beggar King: You will never be… a king… as long as the Necromongers live. The life leaves out of the Beggar Kings body, he looks sad and blue from the choking.

Citizen: A king should die on his feet. Citizen lets go of the strings and the king hangs there in the air. A crown falls off his head and Citizen grabs it. The crown, gold yet broken from every inch, Citizen squashes the crown in his hand and throws it on the ground.

Citizen: Only armies determine who is king. And as it seems, I’ve yet to make one.

Suddenly a book of death comes from the air and Citizen catches it, with the pages flipping by themselves. Citizen whispers an ancient language, and across the city, corpses of the dead start to rise.

Dead man in the street, naked, calls for Citizen’s name as he wakes up: Citizen.

Beggar King with a dead voice: Citizen.

Dead soldiers: Citizen. They stand up and look at Citizen for a moment, before starting to march into the city to join the other dead. They grab their guns and make terrible noises, looking to serve.

Everyone who dies now in this city will resurrect immediately and become Citizen’s minion. And killing happens all the time in this city.

The fallen rise up and start to control the citizens of this city, and killing anyone who doesn’t follow the rule of Citizen. Screams and gunfire start echoing in the city. Citizen walks up the steps, killing more soldiers that come to stop him.

Citizen: I was born to kill. And that’s what I intend to do!

    -

Meanwhile Talon and Sarah with a couple of Necromongers fly with a Z.E.R.F ship in the skies, when they suddenly get a call from Tanja.

    Talon: Tanja.

    Tanja: Talon. Where are you?

I am heading to the Lord of Vampires home.

… You can’t be. Why are you going there? We have just heard news that Alcatraz is under attack from an army of the dead. I think its Crim. And if so then Citizen can’t be far. I need you to go there instead.

I was ordered to kill Eric. With the help from Vlad I intend to find him. I am doing this first.

I ordered you to find Citizen! He is your top priority! Tanja’s call turns into static.

Sarah: Why did she hang up?

They continue flying, when out of nowhere a spray of blood comes on the windshield and breaks the glass. The glass flies into Sarah and Talon and they lose control of the ship.

The back engines are seen igniting into flames as the ship malfunctions. As the ship descends into the dead forest and even into the ground, it stops in its tracks immediately.

With the flames spitting out of the engine and electrical equipment sparring out of control, Talon wakes up to the sounds and looks at himself. His visor analyses his entire suit.

    Helen: You look all clear.

Talon looks over to Sarah to see her knocked out, with a few cuts and bruises. Talon unlocks his seatbelt and goes to her and gets hers open too. Suddenly a yell is heard at the back of the ship, like a soldier died. Taking that as a sign to get out of the ship, Talon quickly rips off Sarah seatbelt and takes her out of the front end of the ship.

Talon: Helen, analyze her! Helen does a thorough analysis of Sarah.

Helen: It seems she only has outer damage, but the innards are all in working order.

Please wake up, Sarah! Talon whispers as he feels threatened by the surrounding. Something is inside the ship, killing soldiers. And from behind Talon someone pokes at him. Talon turns around to spot a stranger in a stylish suit standing. The man doesn’t say anything, just looks at Sarah.

Talon: Away you! Talon can’t fight back with Sarah in his arms.

Another one, looking exactly like the first guy comes and stands next to his brother. They just look at Sarah. Not knowing what to do, then just jump away, after the Necromonger soldiers have died.

    Meanwhile Sarah wakes up.

Talon: Sarah? Finally I can fight!

    Sarah: What? Fight what?

There were these two creepy motherfuckers just watching me and you. They just jumped away, like disappeared. Sarah looks around to spot nobody around except dead soldiers.

Sarah with a panicked voice: What do we do now?

You tell me. This was your plan. Sarah gets on her feet.

I didn’t plan to nosedive into the ground. Umm… We move forward! Talon becomes surprised and looks around the ship, seeing dead soldiers everywhere.

Talon with an angry voice: Damn them! Those creeps killed all the soldiers. Are you sure this is a good idea?

Vlad’s mansion can’t be far. We have to keep moving! Maybe those two creeps were the master’s servants. They probably recognized me and left us alive.

Oh let them come and fight. I’ll kill them all!

Talon now is not the time to get bloodthirsty. We have to keep moving. Talon grabs his sword from the crash and puts the belt around him.

Ugh fine. Which way do we go? Sarah points at a direction with full confidence and starts moving. Talon is not too comfortable, but still follows after her. They walk through the dense forest, which stretches many miles long.

    -

Out in a remote house next to a riverbank in Finland

Morning has come and the sun shines bright onto Markus and Lucille, who are sitting on the ground where Eric died. Markus without his suit of armor seems out of focus, but Lucille just watches him.

Markus not too comfortable of being watched: What are you looking at?

    Lucille: Eric’s killer.

Hey, he wanted it. Did I seem even a little bit joyed of the idea?

You still did it in the end with your free will.

Enough! Do you think now that he’s dead Eric would want us to fight against each other?  I don’t believe that. The man was all about love, kinda…

Yeah you knew him so well. Lucille still keeps anger in herself, making Markus feel guilty. She spots Markus being depressed, and becomes sad herself. Tears start forming on her face and she starts crying.

Markus starts going towards her to hug her, but she pulls back.

Stop! I don’t want you to die too! Markus steps back and looks down, seeing the Sword of Darkness beside him on the ground.

What am I supposed to do then?

Just go. I’ll be alright here.

I can’t just leave you alone. We have to stick together. You and I are the only free people who are loyal to Eric.

    You’re still loyal to him?

Of course. I wanted him to come back with me to the Necromongers. But now that he’s dead. I don’t feel like going back.

What will we do now then? Markus stops to think and look around. The same sword still keeps popping into his vision. He grabs it and raises it up.

Markus with confidence: Maybe we should join this Citizen?

Eric and he were enemies. I doubt Citizen would appreciate Eric’s friends, such as us.

I am willing to give it a try. Come! Markus stabs the ground with the sword and goes to his suit of armor, opening it up and going inside the suit.

Markus stretches the suit. Ah it feels good.

Lucille: I’m not coming. How are you supposed to find this Citizen?

I have a radio communicator. Markus turns it on and starts calling the Necropolish. A soldier answers.

    Soldier: Yes, Markus?

Yeah it’s me. Tell Tanja Eric is dead, by the Sword of Darkness.

Oh. That’s great news. I will tell her right away!

But before you go, tell me where Citizen is!

Citizen, you mean the one who took over Alcatraz?

Alcatraz… Thank you. Send a transport to this location. I will send the signal now. (Markus sends a signal with the communicator.) Got it?

Yes. We know where you are. Stay tight and we’ll come to pick you up. Markus hangs up and readies himself for a flight, but before he does, he goes to grab the Sword of Darkness.

Lucille: Why did you send the signal if you are going away?

That’s for you. I’m going to go find Citizen. Markus rips off his communicator and throws it onto the ground before stepping on it. It loses the signal and deactivates.

Lucille: So… I guess this is goodbye then.

It is. We have separate paths in life. Mine is Citizen, and yours is…

I will rejoin with Juno… she is too someone who my powers can’t kill. And she’s Eric’s sister.

Understood. Well I’m off! Markus absorbs the sword into his hand and salutes Lucille like a soldier before taking off into the air. Lucille looks up with amazement how Markus flies away into the distance.

    Lucille: Goodbye.

    End

    Chapter 2

    I fight between two monsters

In an old castle, out in Austria

A boy named Jack and 2 small children play tag on the steps of the castle. They are having fun, until one falls and hurts herself. Skeleton soldiers come to her aid immediately and take her up in arms.

Jack: Is she going to be okay? The soldiers, lifeless, don’t speak a word. The small child at age 8 already trusts the soldiers and hugs them tightly for their kindness.

From the castle doors walks the lady of the home, Lady Mess. She is pale and beautiful, with blond hair and blue eyes, wearing a mystical black dress.

Melanie, Jason. It’s time to go inside! She looks into the distance as a storm cloud is approaching.

Melanie: I fell and hurt my leg.

Jason: I’ll take care of it. The little boy kisses her sisters injury on the knee, and Melanie feels better for her brother’s protection.

They go inside the castle and Mess looks at Jack with a displeased face.

Mess: Jack, you missed practice today. How am I supposed to make you into a strong god if you keep skipping lessons?

Jack: I’m sorry Lady Mess. I just find the lessons to be very boring, and this is coming from a boy who likes to study.

Lady Mess takes a book and cuts her finger on the page.

Melanie and Jason: Oh no, mom you hurt yourself. She points her finger at Jack and waits for him to lick the blood.

Jack: I hate these moments. But alright. As the blood drips and falls in the air, Jack goes to lick her bloody finger and pulls back immediately.

Mess: You are the blood god, as well as the god of ice, on top of that the god of the Wolf sign. Blood helps you grow all three powers. You need to drink it more. I am upping the dosage of blood in your cola from now on. And read your books! You must learn what powers you have.

Jack: Yes, Lady Mess. Mess goes with her children and leaves Jack with a book. Loneliness has started to enter Jack’s heart, he really misses his friends.

    -

Talon and Sarah have been walking for an hour in the dark woods. Daytime is starting to settle, and the forest is becoming creepier with its lifeless sight.

Talon: How long have we been walking?

Sarah: I don’t know but my legs are tired.

You’re a young vampire girl with superhuman strength, and you’re getting tired?

Look, we have just been in an accident, my body is tired from healing all my wounds so quickly. It’s taken a lot of energy. Talon realizes the same thing and feels like an asshole now. He bows his head down of embarrassment, when suddenly a small fence comes in front of him and he trips.

Sarah: Are you okay? That’s a stupid question. Imagine the world’s toughest soldier being killed by a mingy fence.

Talon: Hahahaha. True true. Sarah gives Talon a hand and he gets up. As he gets up, they both look at how the forest ends and a mansion is incoming.

Sarah: We made it. They jump over the fence and look around the area. Even the grass is lifeless, which Talon finds very disturbing.

Talon: Keep yourself ready. We might not be welcome.

If that’s so then why’d they leave us alive from the crash?

I don’t know. But I will protect you with all I have.

Aww, that’s sweet, but you’re the one who needs protection in these parts.

They move along the path leading to the house, which is covered in lampposts on the road and on the side. On either side of the path are gardens for fruits and vegetables. But it seems to have been left for today as the night has come.

The front door opens for Sarah and Talon, and the two twins come out to greet them. Taking it as a threat, Talon readies himself for battle.

Sarah: Calm Talon! We aren’t here to fight. Talon lowers his arms and goes with Sarah as she enters the building first. The twins jump away and disappear into the shadows. The doors shut with a bang behind Talon.

The room is lit by a chandelier on the ceiling and candles by the walls.

    Talon: Very old fashioned.

A deep strange voice echoes throughout the halls: Who you calling old fashioned? Suddenly, the famous vampire lord emerges from the wall and stands tall, wearing bikers clothes. Talon notices a cross on his jacket and necklace.

    Sarah becomes joyed: Vlad.

    Talon: Vlad?

Alucard: Only family may call me Vlad. Others call me Dracula, or Alucard. Sarah becomes less joyed about not be seeing as family, Talon steps forth afterwards.

Seems fair enough, Lord Alucard. Alucard comes forward to have a look at Talon and smell his scent.

Alucard: It seems a Necromonger has entered my home. No Necromongers are allowed this far into my territory. I wonder what could be so important to break such a delicate rule.

I have come to ask for your help in finding Eric… Eric Lee Caine.

Alucard starts laughing manically: You fool. You’ve come to your death to find out such a simple answer. Hahahahahaha, Eric’s dead! The whole world shifts around for Talon and Sarah as they learn such important information.

    -

Meanwhile Citizen sits on the throne with human soldiers bowing to him. Skeletal guards are seen next to the wall, watching the soldiers.

Soldier: Oh great Citizen. We ask you to spare our lives. And hope to serve you among thousands of other soldiers. You are now the king of this city.

Citizen: I’ll allow it. The soldiers become happy as they are bowing down to him. They stand up and salute Citizen before being signaled away by him.

A General of the city comes to Citizen with full loyalty to the new king.

General: There are demons in this city from Hell. They will, be a nuisance.

Citizen: How many soldiers do we have under our control now?

It’s about 200 000, half of the army that we used to have.

Include my personal guards too and we have more than enough manpower. How many demons are there in this city? Estimate.

    About 4 million.

Kill them one by one, don’t let them group up, and use blessed weapons by the church.

    "But-but we don’t
