Destiny is what you make it by choice. But so too are the number of times you will succeed.
Failure is identified not by whether you choose to get up,
but by the fact you have chosen to stay down.
• Why is it that some succeed while others do not?
• Is success determined by external factors, or is it controlled by an internal force within each of us?
• How can one’s level of success be increased?
This book defines the true essence of succeeding. It is written by a former Navy SEAL who defines the elements needed to succeed at any endeavor. The intent is to help readers understand their level of control over their own success and to help identify the proper mind-set needed along the way.
Either control your destiny or accept what it has become.

Preface
If you could turn back the clock of your life, what would you do differently? What do you think would change? What would your new outcome look like?
My guess is that there are many things that you would like to have done differently. Of course, it’s easy to backseat drive
our lives, but it’s understandable that we are where we are because of the decisions made based on what we knew then, not now. There is an element of maturity, self-satisfaction, and work avoidance that may have been part of the decision-making process back then, but what about now? How do you assess your past in order to create a better future? What elements can you focus on that will help future decisions about your career, family, and self-worth? How do you maximize the potential of the real you?
The decisions that you make may linger, causing you to question why you made them if there is no foundation or basis from which they came. The foundation, of course, is something you stand for or something that helps to define who you are. It’s not something that is necessarily physical, yet it can be seen by everyone. Ever look at someone and know that individual has confidence? How do you know? It’s not physical … is it? If it’s not physical,
